VIDEO: 5 Tomato Grow Mistakes To Avoid

Tomato cage I use: https://bit.ly/3ev6txH Tomatoes ARE gardening in my opinion. They’re the plant we most often think of when we think of a lush, beautiful garden. So many varieties, so many options…but also some mistakes can be made:

  1. Hey!
Im growing (for the very first time) tomatoes from seeds and now they are palm ✋ tall sized seedlings and I’d love to repot them.

I have noticed leaf-miners on some leaves, even though I pluck and dispose them, it seems to stay. Should I be spraying neem oil ?
    Any suggestions?

  2. New to gardening. Is there a way to determine, say, a inch per week in a 10 gallon grow bag? Planning a drip system, have no clue how to time it. Thanks

  3. I live in the Netherlands and I just tied my tomatoes to my Fence. Works perfectly well. The plant is absolutely huge and produces a lot of tomatoes that taste good. The fence is really shitty, but that actually helps pollinating the plants because the entire fence shakes when it is already a little windy.

  4. I did top off my tomatoes, but it was more because they just kept growing and growing and mine is almost as tall as me and I'm almost 2M tall. While it didn't need to do so because I live in the Netherlands, are summers are about to end and the plants probably won't survive the weather after that

  5. There is one thing that you never mention. When planting your seeds. When your seedlings get to be about a tall then you should prune off the lower branches, because wherever the lower limb touches the soul the little hair like particle will become roots and it will start to crawl on wherever there is soul that the branch make contact with.

  6. This was my first year to try a determinate tomato plant-classic slicer style tomatoes. Success! I followed your pruning tips and my one plant has been super productive. The tomatoes are plentiful and gorgeous! I have a small plot in city provided community garden so about 50 sq ft for veggie growing (I have a rose bush and a section with lavender, rosemary and sage, and tulip & daffodil bulbs in the remaining 10 sq ft or so). I play around with a variety of veggies and it’s fun to see what thrives and what “plays well together” (or not).

  7. I’m growing some globe tomatoes and cherry tomatoes and I’m looking to grow spoon tomatoes and tomberry tomatoes soon, hopefully I don’t get blossom end rot :(:

  8. Thanks, and may I add on this last point in the video a tip I received from a local while living in Firenze, Italy, for a year: only fools use just one type of tomato to make tomato sauce. You need to mix varieties to make the ultimate red sauce. Some varieties add sweetness, others add umami, others add texture, no single variety is able to deliver all qualities, so mix!…his words, not mine.

  9. Never seen the use for a tomato cage. I've tried them and none of them actually do anything to help the tomato plants. I've had just the same results without cages, and with the plants tied to sticks stuck in the ground.

  10. All throughout spring of 2020 til summer of 2021we had a monstrous cherry tomato plant survive. This video encourages me to try the proper way and grow some more tomatoes. Thank you for making tomato growing instruction clear and easy! FYI, We live in Ramona, CA 😉

  11. Mistake #6
Not singing or playing hertz frequencies!! Tomato plants especially Love hertz frequencies!! If you’re having a hard time growing your tomato’s, play hertz frequencies. You’ll see the plant visibly vibrating when these various frequencies are being played. I had trouble growing anything! My neighbor gave me a clipping off her tomato plant. After a week in water, the roots were ready to go into soil. I was listening to hertz frequencies one evening when I noticed out of the corner of my eye movement. I noticed my little tomato plant was moving. When I turned off the off the music , the plant stopped shaking. Turned on, started again. Since than everyday I play hertz frequencies and my once tiny clipping is now 8 ft tall!! It’s been through 2 moves and is now 4 years old. I put it outside in the spring and inside through the winter. Ive gotten many other plants from this original tomato plant these last 4 years and have continuously done the same with all my other tomato and other plants. It’s amazing how powerful the vibrations and frequencies are to all living things. I never was a “ green thumb “ before and now care for over 80 indoor plants and 60 outdoor plants. In this caring process ive found the one common denominator in all my plant growth and health is daily frequencies and sweet talking to that profoundly makes a difference on growth!!
