Sprout Your Own Ginger From Any Store-Bought Ginger Root! Ginger is so easy to sprout, given the right conditions. The rhizomes of this plant are not only tasty and necessary in numerous recipes, but they can also be sprouted to grow entirely new Ginger plants, for free! In this video, I show you exactly how to grow your own Ginger plants simply from store bought Ginger bulbs.
This is a great project for growing indoors and for teaching kids how things grow, as well as the vegetative life cycles of root and shoot development. One of the best indoor projects that you gardeners can do as we wait for our garden beds and plots to thaw outside.
As a fully tropical plant, Ginger needs supplemental heat if you live in temperate regions or if your indoor temperatures are below 80F. Sprouting usually takes place within a week with viable bulbs, although the progress of growth at this stage can vary quite a bit. Give it a try, starting, sprouting, and growing Ginger indoors is highly rewarding, and most of all, super fun!

Can't have Ginger without Garlic! Let's harvest some together!: https://youtu.be/ngZ7UuFEuwY
A green thumb dude here. Knows his stuff. I find all your video's to be 'tastefully' presented. 🙂
Is watsapp working?
I really hate to say this to you but I really don’t think that you should have reported your Ginger root into another small container. You are really cramping this root up and is not leaving and area for this root to expand to it’s growing size. You are making a big mistake because you will have to replant this Ginger root again. You are only wasting your time by repotting this root into another small pot.
Gosh I wish I could do that and grow garlic too!
When do you water?? What temperature, sunlight requirements , how do you snap to separate ??
I'm in northern Ont and I have started some Ginger in doors as per your method, can you just grow the ginger indoors or is it best to transplant it outside in the spring ?
Thanks for this info buddy! Howdy from Texas. Love your videos
EXCELLENT!
Can you put the ginger inside the house when it’s winter time , does it needs sun ( heat ) thanks
Thank you for this video. Trying desperately to grow ginger as I drink ginger tea without milk. So please tell me as to when I can uproot for consumption. Wasn’t very clear on that.
How much do you water?
Great video instruction! Thank you.
this one time…… at band camp
Thanks for the thorough video explaining ginger propagation! I started my first one prior to watching this video with success, however it has been slow going, likely because of the lack of heat. No one else has provided that information as a necessary step in growing ginger. I'll have a new project for this winter. Much appreciated!
Can I start indoor through the winter? It's just hitting fall now and have some ginger sprouting on my counter. I need to do something with it 🙂 thank you!
Love all of your helpful tips!!! Thanks!!
Thank you
Good lecture !
Great video. Would have loved some info on when the ginger is ready to harvest
Roots and Shoots!
Talking like gerald from southpark after he got a hybrid.
This has been a great help . I haven't had much luck now I know what I am not doing quite right . I have a couple of old aquariums that are mini green houses that I will dedicate 1 of them to ginger this winter . Thanks for the info. Keep up the good work .
I finally got my ginger growing but I think I've made some mistakes it's slowly starting to yellow.
You sound an awful lot like some old Youtuber I used to watch but I forget his name, he wore a beanie. Some sorta name like Snubby or Fubby or something like that…Weird. Anyway, cool vid!
