  1. You never know about those chickens…I go to the coop one day and my easiest going sweet hen is soaked and muddy…I take her in and clean her up..take her back and they all start jumping on her so I just leave her out thinking Why r they picking on this sweet girl??…day or so later she is fighting herself in the reflection of my storm door glass! I don't know what clicked in her but she enjoyed her free ranging when she wasn't fussing at her reflection lol

  2. I have a quick question, my hen pepper was a barred rock and recently past. She was perfectly fine before she passed. She also was completely in tack, she had no cuts or injuries. My other hens didn't even touch her, but she had just died. Do you think it was sudden deaths syndrome??

  3. All foods have protein. Veggies, fruits, nuts seeds etc. Chickens attacking each other has nothing to do with getting their protein. It's just that pecking order thing they get into.

  4. sorry for your losses Patera, and appreciate that you are able to keep it all in perspective. even as we do our best things happen. I've lost 2 in this first year of chicken keeping.

  5. zombie chickens !!! thanks for the info was very helpful – love the intro made me laugh, expected a vincent price laugh in the background. all kidding aside, thanks again for sharing this info

  6. Bunnies are so cute and adorable. They too can be cannibalistic. We had a doe that if she got stressed she would eat her babies. We learned to put vanilla on her nose if we were going to check on the babies.

  7. yea it's in their nature, even as young chicks they will pick at a sick or injured one, they can tell if something ain't right with the other ones and if not noticed quick enough they will kill each other, and more often then not it don't take long at all.
