The one downvoter tried to compost stone.
Does compost bring more bugs to your yard (ants, roaches, etc)?
What's wrong with using meat or poultry kitchen scrap to the compost heap?
Now. I got it. !!!!!!
Compowst
This was right on time. I'm new to composting, and have a tumbler full of compost that i want to add to my garden for winter – just wasn't sure i was doing it right.
Do you use or recommend a composer to help to remove larg sticks ! etc. ?
Have you ever tried to inject air into your compost with an air compressor? I know some people that drill holes into their front or removable boards and inject air into their compost.
Can you recommend a good composting book?
I compost 3 ways.
1st. My clean compost for my worm bin. No onions, citrus, seeds, etc.
2nd. Hot compost bin. 65-80% leaves from lawn mower bag, 20-25% grass clippings. The rest other kitchen scraps and some bone meal. November-May.
3rd. A small, closed bin, mostly green kitchen scraps but any other kitchen scraps like from meats, rice and anything else I have, but no heavy vinegar, oil or salt foods. I usually bury this compost deep into the ground when I empty it because it's never broken down enough and I don't want it in my vegetable garden.
Very informative! I'm also new to composting and use a trash can to compost. Is it a good idea to add worms?
Excellent information
Question – How do you control potential vermin problems?
I like to add chicken manure to my compost to boost nitrogen. Oh and urine too!
This was excellent. Thanks!
I use seaweed and fall leaves collected from October to November. I'm in NB. Lots of seaweed and trees here! Lol.
Ever tried bokashi composting?? I have been doing it for about 5 years and my plants love it. I am not sure of the exact chemistry benefits of the fermenting but I am interested in learning.
Oh my gosh! Finally someone who actually replies to the comments! ❤ I do have some concerns about cardboard. I'm thinking of cereal boxes, packaging of canned drinks, even paper bags and straw wrappers from takeout…are these okay to use? Not sure about the gloss that I've heard some people mention.
I have a question for all us new growers. Who thought they simply were going to put a few seeds and cuttings in some dirt and grow a plant? LOL!
sooooo helpful.. thanks
How can you compost right into your garden if you don’t have a compost bin and don’t want rodents
Should we cover our compost pile to prevent rain soaking it? In most videos I don't see any roof cover.
Do you ever have a problem with seed sprouting in your raised beds from the kitchen scraps!
One question please, what about pesticides on grass clippings, won't it be bad for composting?
