In this video, I convert an above-ground duck pond pool into a raised aquatic food garden bed for edible water plants!

Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland Australia about 45kms north of Brisbane – the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started Self Sufficient Me in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. I love sharing my foodie and DIY adventures online so come along with me and let’s get into it! Cheers, Mark 🙂
G'day Everyone did ya miss me?! You know I love making videos but these last few weeks have been busier than a one-legged man in a bum-kicking competition. Anyway, the Self Sufficient Me homestead is looking pretty good and so is my schedule so hopefully, I can be uploading more content! Thanks for your kind support… Cheers 🙂

Top five tips on how to grow arrowhead and taro
I'm looking to do a duck pond with growing vegetables the same they do with fish in a aquaponic system. didn't found a lot of exemple for the moment. 😉
"Aquatic food garden" – or you could call it an "edible swamp". 😀 😀 😀
Love it
I have some ancient Taro. I mean the mother to all the plants I have now was bought in 1938 by my grand mother. You can't kill taro. I have dug it, burned it, tried to smother it with darkness, I have tried pouring toxic stuff on it. It won't die. I tried over fertilizing it. it will grown anywhere in wet soil. It is invasive. All it takes is one plant and you can't get rid of it.
Hello from California! Great video
This is a Call of Duty Zombies map I'm pretty sure you're building, it's called Shi No Numa… Seriously some of these things are WW2 style janky building and I love it
I’ve learned a lot from watching your gardening techniques. Not all would work in my Pennsylvania garden and I’m currently waiting for the delivery of my first raised bed garden so my husband and I can put it together, add the decaying logs into the bottom and then the leaves. I’m not sure what kind of soil to use but I guess I’ll figure it out eventually. Thanks for the tips!
What? This surprised me. What a great idea!
When your building chicken coops and things like that you should film it. I loved this video
Water chestnuts – wow. I look forward to those!
Love the vids brother; great information for this beginning gardener 🙂
Mark, would love seeing more videos about chickens !!
I'd be too scared of mosquitoes breeding in it.
Is there a reason you didn't mulch all of the branches and thing syou put in the back of the truck?
Fun fact another name for arrowhead is duck potato. I have seen it in ponds never tried it though.
