  1. blows all the theory of learnt horticulture out the door. top of cutting cut at an angle bottom of cutting straight. damn, that's about 100,000 cuttings I've done wrong in the last 50 years. It's an old nursery tip so you remember which end goes in the ground. Can't make a lot of difference as 99% if mine struck.

  2. @aajlrrecruit they are so hardy they will struck in any way, I once placed a four year old blackcurrant stem (from a pruning) into the ground and it's grown to be a healthy bush

  3. hello! i've really been enjoying your videos!
i have a question as to your opinion on the time of year it would be best to take the cuttings. i live in canada and due to that our ground is quite frozen until april or may. would you suggest taking my cuttings just as the buds are starting on the bush or should i do it before then?
    thank you!

  4. thanks for the good advice! the cuttings i took are starting to grow leaves! i do have another question for you, about how long would you say i should wait before i move the cuttings to their permanent place?
    thanks!

  5. I’ve found your video very helpful, a really good presentation of both you and what to do. I’m going to do my cuttings tomorrow (31st March) , I may be a bit late! I want to plant them in pots. Do you think they will take in a pot & What pot size would you suggest to start them in? Thanks for any advice.
