  1. Hi Kim, I found your channel from Praxxus/Ray/Voodoo Garden and was really excited to find a southern California person. I'm here in CA as well and gardening here has it's own little challenges. Started my first garden last year and I am excited to get started again. Thanks for your great information and keep up the good work!

  2. so cool! i am trying this method as well with peppers. Did you every need to water or do any maintenance to the pods during step 1 or 2 before you transplanted them to small cups? thanks for the great videos!

  3. Peppers need 75-80 degree temps to germinate. I kept mine on a heating pad until they sprouted,(mine took about a week) then took them off the pad and put them in a sunny window. The peat pods will turn light brown when they need watering. Thanks for watching and good luck with your peppers!

  4. Kim, How did I not come across you channel before!?! Your videos are amazing and informative and shot is such great quality! You are a natural. You need your own show on tv… Really you do! Thanks for making videos and I look forward to what you have in store thing spring! Love and light from Los Angeles! PS. What kind of camera are you using?

  5. Thank you so much for this wonderful comment. This made my day! I do hope that you find my videos helpful. The camera we use is a Canon 7d. The video side of things is my husband's fun thing to do. Thanks again, and please keep me posted on how your garden is coming along. CK

  6. I am not having the same luck as you with the Jiffy Greenhouse. I found that about 1/2 my seeds sprout and I get very flustered lol. When I received my Bakers Creek seeds I used my left over 6-pack containers and thankfully they are doing great! I sure didn't want to waste those! I know its something that I am doing so will have to monitor MYSELF!

  7. Hi Kelly – Were you using Baker Creek Seeds on the ones that did not germinate? I have very high germination rate with BCS and pretty much exclusively use their seeds now. I have had some not sprout and reused the jiffy peat pots. Works fine – they are really just individual soil holding tanks until the seed sprouts, get their first true leaves and you can plant the individual seed into soil where they have more food to grow. Let me know how it goes!

  8. No, I was using hybrid seeds (Home Depot) but now that I have my huge supply of BCS I will try it in the peat pots that didn't germinate. Again, I think its partly my fault because I became impatient lol TY Kim!

  9. Wow, you're gorgeous, thanks for the videos, love em, I started my seeds today in one of those containers, hopefully turn out as good as yours.  Thanks again

  10. So I actually didn't know that you weren't supposed to put them in direct sunlight until they germinate. What if I put them on top of a high cabinet outside under a patio? That way they get some sunlight and warmth, but not too much.

  11. You really should have these under a shoplight/or growlight as I can plainly see the seedlings are reaching for the sunlight and leaning to the window side. Some people even put them outside for a while when they are young and then they are easier to harden off later.
