VIDEO: Garden tank duck pond Khaki Campbell

Here is a duck pond made from a water tank garden planter box. Instead of using it as a garden I have filled it with water for my Khaki Campbell ducks to have a splash in. Got questions just ask me at my forum http://www.selfsufficientculture.com/forum.php

  1. G'Day mate! Yeah, no toads – it's winter anyway so I won't really know if they can hop all the way up the ramp until the toads come out again when it warms up here. The ducks on the the other hand are loving it! I've actually made a few improvements to the ramp and added some water plants – the ducks have left them alone, so far. Good to hear from ya Hazy ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. Thats great to hear there doing well. I myself am trying my hand at Bees. My first lot got wiped out by Hive Beetle at the beginning of winter as the hive wasn't strong enough but heres hoping the next lot do better.

  3. Wow! I'm very interested in bees but I've never had the guts to try and keep them. You know, I would love it if you could write your experiences on my forum "Self Sufficient Culture" – just the odd snippet of information and updates from time to time. Fresh honey – awesome ๐Ÿ™‚ Cheers, mate

  4. Hi, where again did you say you got the duck tank?? Also how often do you empty it and refill it?? Are there any issues with the duck poop burning your plants and causing e coli to grow on your edibles??

  5. Thanks for making a video. I love to watch the ducks, especially in the water. Something about them is so relaxing. I suppose they would be good for the eggs too.

  6. You should really add something that moves the water around, unless you don't mind the millions of mosquito. And I do mean millions of them fuckers, as in clouds of them. You could make a cheap DIY bio-mechanical filter if you want, this would stir up the water surface enough AND filter the water. The residue in the filter – read: mostly literally crap – can still be used as a fertilizer for your plants (diluted of course). I use it for my 500L duck pond that harbors 3 large Muscovy ducks. Those ducks are professional crapping machines that just love to dump their huge stinky goods in the water. They are the ruling champions in that one, trust me. LOL In winter time not so much of a problem, they are not fans of ice cold water and will avoid it more, and there are no mosquito during winter time, but once the temperatures go up again…. ooooh boy. Yep, a filter with added fountain IS a must, trust me. And since you live in Australia (your accent gives it away) you know damn well that even mosquito try to kill you. LOL

I can only share my own experience and hope it will help a fellow duck keeper in the future. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Cheers!
