Great point about wood carbon robbing nitrogen being part myth. I have plants growing out of a dead foot by foot stump sitting decoratively in my patio garden.

Nice demonstration of the plant growing from the wood. I read recently in a University study, or studies, that wood or plant matter robbing nitrogen from the soil is just another old wives' tale. The real proof is in the garden though, and your garden looks great. I like how that cucumber is jutting out into the yard. I'm thinking with your somewhat crowded method of planting a variety of species that you'll end up with the strongest and best plants.
Thanks, yeah I agree about it being a myth. Thanks, hopefully we will start harvesting some summer crops soon. Yeah only the strongest will survive, and those should produce the best seed for next year. I underestimated how much the cucumbers like to climb, so I guess this will be a year of learning and than next year I might have to make some alterations.
