Love your garden. I am trying to do my garden organically as well. The bugs are a pain, but the dogs are doing a great job of keeping the deer away.
If I was growing veggies right now in the summer, I'd probably have to resort to chemicals, too. The bugs are ridiculous this time of the year. I hope you still get a good production. Unreal about the deer eating your straw! That is down right discouraging. lol. Don't give up.

Great lookin' garden,…er…that is before the high temps,…drought in Germany?!! I'd expected drought to happen in the States, in mexico and parts of south america, africa, mid-east, central asia, australia, but never in the green, lush lands of europe! Corn's lookin' good, if ya happen to get any rain later on when the corn's tasseling and some ears get wet, develop corn smut, don't throw 'em away, makes fine eating!! Thumbs up Jay!!

I've found the best solution for potato bugs is don't grow 'em. lol A guy here starts his potatoes real early and they usually grow up enough, if they don't get froze out, to get some good taters.
It is a shame that your garden hasnt done as well as you would like this year. The weather sure can be a finiky thing.
