You know it was just the other week when I was clearing my new plot and found a load of parsnips that had gone to seed as you explained. There were a good five to ten plants there, and I hadn't seen this and just put them all in the compost. I wish I had seen this before. Oh well there will be other years. Thanks for the tip Huw, greatly appreciated.
What is the germination rate from saved parsnip seeds? Do you keep them in the refrigerator?

It looks like you cut the top off while some of the flowers were still just flowers/ before each umbel had gone to seed. Is that right? I've noticed each of the flower clusters on mine are maturing at different rates…
I saw another YouTube video where the presenter claimed that her own collected parsnip seeds were viable for 12 years! Clearly damp & light are both enemies of stored seeds & such conditions should be avoided. Maybe add a silica gel sachet to your seed packets?
