  1. Very informative. When I first started gardening, lettuce was one of my biggest challenges. Getting the timing right and preventing them from bolting from stress and heat. arghhh, I wanted to pull my hair out LOL

  2. What type of sand is best for clay soil, normal silicon dioxide or the childrens sandpit calcium carbonate. I'm just wonderin if the carbonate with raise the ph too much.

  3. I have a perfect spot for lettuce (and broccoli), but I thought you weren't supposed to plant the same crop in the same location year after year. Pests specific to those plants get established, etc. This is only my second year gardening, so it's all based on stuff I've read and people I've talked to though, not personal experience.

  4. How long do you grow the sprouts indoors before planting? My growing season for lettuce, spinach, and cabbage is coming up and wondering if I need to go ahead and start seeding.

  5. 65° outside and my lettuce has had about five hours of sun. every time no matter what the temperature when it gets about five to six hours of sunlight here in Arizona my butter crunch seems to wilt. But on a cloudy day it's strong as can be
