VIDEO: Low Cost Tunnel Trellis to Grow Climbing Vegetables & Fruits Made From Reo Mesh

This is an easy to make low cost vegetable garden trellis made from reo concrete mesh and bent over on the end to make a tunnel covered with bird netting on top with two long slim raised beds. This design makes it easy to grow all sorts of climbing vegetables and fruit or any food plants requiring support such as tomatoes, beans, cucumbers, peas, raspberries, etc whilst giving some protection from birds.

  1. That looks great. I want to put a gate around the area of my outside raised bed and put better lighting Since this will also be the entrance to go to the back of the house where the stairs will be put if my brother decides to make his house. Loved your idea very nice, Plants and more

  2. Cheers Mark. Great idea this vertical gardening. I'm 100% with you mate. The less bending the better. I would be doing a few of them as vertical space is free. Love the idea of the Reo Mesh. What did it set you back when you bought it? Also where did you scorer those super long star pickets. I am planning to use them to build a bug mesh house like RobBobs. The biggest ones I could source online and even through Gumtree . Au were only 8' at the most, the average being 6'6" I think. Nice one Mark. Great growing space in my books. Had any rain lately! Cheers mate. Nice video. TTYL David

  3. I can vision my self sat under that trellis with a bottle of penfolds grange puffing away on one of my Cubans !! Ha ha !! It looks the part Mark ! I can imagine it looking great in full flower/blossom !! Have you tried growing grapes over it ? Or a you going to surprise me again by showing me your vineyard ?? Ha ha !!

  4. I really like that!  You mentioned pumpkins – I wondered if you grew them there.   Was that a type of Stapelia ( like Starfish Cactus or sometimes called Carion Flower) that was in a bucket off to the side?

  5. Love the trellis Mark. How'd you get the reo mesh home? I need to get some decent trellising going myself and you've given me some great ideas. Thanks for sharing mate.
