We are trying J.
there's sustainability on different levels too.food production,housing,heating and cooking and economically/money wise too.plus our abilities as we age.what we done when in our 20's slows as we get in our 70's.so we need to plan systems that need less labor now as we grow older or get limitation as we go along in life.
Our family isn't anywhere near sustainable. I don't think we will ever be completely. But, there are steps we have taken in that direction and plans have been made to continue in that direction. I guess we are a work in progress. You have good ideas, Jay and what you have said is food for thought.
I agree that there is no water shortage, but there is a problem with a lack of fresh drinkable water in many place's. this is in part like you say from water mismanegment, but also water contamination.

I have no problem with the development or new technologies but do have problems with the way that some folks use & misuse it..
