  1. I have 2 of them in a huge pot. They’ve been growing for 2 months & are covered with yellow blooms. I see bees around them. The vines have gone down the sides to the ground crawling everywhere. I removed some yellow leaves this week. I put Miracle Grow plant food on it a couple of times. How long does it take before fruit appears?

  2. Hi Luke, First off — We PLANT,
    God GROWS!!
Have you ever planted any thing in 5 hallon buckets? I
    have Irish potatoes, Early Girl
    tomatoes, Hale's Best canta –
    loupe (from a seed package),
    Munchers cucumbers ( also
from a seed package), & 3 slips of sweet potatoes, which was given to me, but the kind is unknown. I have a Patio tomato too, but I put her in my mother's silver pot, but both of the tomatoes have Blossom End Rot, BUT — I have gotten 2 small ones from the Patio. I have neen giving them (both)
watered – down milk (2% into
skim). Is there any way I could share my pictures to you to show you?

  3. My cantaloupe leaves are dying in the big container. What fertilizer you use? Can I put 20-20-20 water soluble fertilizer? How much & often do I use?

  4. Thank you so much for this video. I am trying cantaloupe in a pot for the first time this year (2020) on my back deck, where I am trellising it along the deck railings. Your video includes several very helpful points and tips! The vines are very long, so I am wondering if I should trim them back to make them more compact the next time around. Meanwhile I will be thrilled to get one or two home-grown babies for a first try.

  5. I'm a 1st timer. I just planted a few days a go. I need to see the next steps after they begin to grow. I know I have to separate them and put them in another pot. But I'm lost after that. Do I put a net on them to grow or something? I'm lost

  6. hah. Funny how societal pressures cause people to say things they don't mean literally: "yes, you can totally grow these in a container"….i would say most of the plant and hopefully its produce (melons) will expand out of the container, thus its not, "totally". Totally, man!
So Luke, where's your discussion on how to cull blossoms so each plant may yield a decent melon? I have volunteer plants in my 36" wide container, which i've allowed 2 or 3 to grow

  7. A large growing bag could be the solution. I heard that you can sew them from landscaping material (or ask the producer of such materials what they recommend). There is even a chance to move it (for instance from frost, or they can be covered during the night), one could start out with a cellulose pot and prepare seedlings indoors, I heard they are VERY sensitive to frost, but on the other hand they are also need a long growing season. So one could take advantage of a nice spring but when it gets cold the smaller "pots" are taken indoors and as soon as the frosts are over (late April in many regions in the temperate climate zone, the pot goes into the larger growing bag which is nearby a house or wall (so it will be warmer). it needs a lot of sun to develop the sugar.

  8. Thank you so much for this! I have five sprouts in a very small bed I built. Should I cut the ones in the center of the bed to make more room for the plants at each ends of the bed? Or will they grow regardless being clumped together?
