I agree with HomeFree. I would also keep the strawberries potted until the spring if you could. I hope this helps. 🙂
I agree with HomeFree, or there is always the option of getting rid of most of the stragglers, enriching the soil and starting with a clean slate, gives you new options. Whatever you do I will be watching, love the videos.
Funny, I have thought of the same with making wood cages to these black plastic buckets. I`ve made a prototype, with two buckets in it. This prototype has some short legs on it to lift it above the ground. Mostly due to the slug issue we have here, but it also made the whole thing look a bit nicer. The legs are made of treated wood, and the rest of the cage is stained untreated boards.
I agree with you, making things like these buckets more decorative. It can help others as well to see that growing vegetables don`t need to be something nefarious that has to be hidden in a corner of our backyard. It`s fully possible to make an exciting and decorative mix of both vegs and flowers, that can please everyones eyes and needs.
To the questions of planting time for the plants you mention, I think there will be many suggestions. I`ve left many perennials in the pots to plant in the spring, but I dont see any issues with planting them now either.
For me it`s a question of time and energy to do it this time of the year. I`m always quite tired of gardening in the fall, and often have to wait for the spring to get my passion for gardening back again. 🙂
About the lavenders, I have never managed to overwinter them here at our place. Seems the inland climate here is too much for them too take. Down by the coast, they have more success with growing them.
All the best,
Halvor.
My other channel ain't working for some reason. I always plant those kinda things early spring. Carrots I usually just leave a few to go to seed. I'm really trying to convince people that broccoli, cabbages, peppers, fruit trees all of it is beautiful replace ornamentals with something you can use.
Make sure the strawberries don't freeze. Maybe wait until Spring time
Hey Hay.. Could be a good idea to wait with the strawberry plants I think Jay.. Will probably handle the transplant when the weather warms up a bit I think..
Would be interesting to see if the carrots go to flower next year..
Cheers mate..
