VIDEO: Reasons for saving seed

Short addendum to my earlier video on seed saving. This time reasons for saving seed. I did not address political and corporate reasons but I have addressed those many times in the past and probably will again in the future.

  1. Some good points, as well as the pumpkin seeds I saved back from last year I have also saved back seed potatoes. Your point about knowing what grows well in your own ground is a very valid one, I have planted several different varieties of potatoes over the last 3-4 years since we have been here but the one that really does a lot better than all the other is Charlotte potatoes so now I just stick to those

  2. Good vid J, Made me think.
When using the 3 year old seeds, you may actually breed a treat that makes these seeds viable for 3 or more years. You can ask yourself whether you want a for instance very prolific crop, but seed-viability of 1 year, or a less prolific crop with a viability of 3+ years. Also, a very prolific crop will deplete the soil more then another one that produces less. Anyway, should start the day :o)
    Cheers !
