VIDEO: Cherry pickin' and prunin'

This week I am harvesting my cherries and pruning the tree. Some of the cherries will be used for jams to last us the year and maybe some juice. The rest will be used to distill Schnapps. Not necessarily for drinking. I am not big on drinking but I do find the quality of alcohol produced by my own distillation to be superior to the cheap alcohols to be bought and used for extracts and tinctures.

  1. WOW, that would be a bit scary to crawl up! Cool Idea. My Grandfather made his own tincture, I need to find that old recipe. Good point on the cost of labor. Looks like you doing/feeling much better my Friend!

  2. Yep, seeing that huge, long ladder(looks flimsy but I'm probably wrong), up amidst the top canopy of the cherry tree, and then for each good cherry that you get there are two that have gone bad,….for 907 grams of bing cherry is equal to 169 pesos which is equal to 8.89usd, I admire ya and respect ya Jay, I bet the same goes with your missus and daughter! 🙂
