  1. I live in NE Alabama, USA, and have eight pine trees in my back yard. They are the really tall ones (50 – 75 feet). The problem is the pine needles. If left all year, they would be about 5 or 6 inches thick. I want to put gardens in, but don't know if the needles will affect what I grow.

    My plan is for a keyhole garden, for tomatoes and peppers to start with. I also have a small place by one fence where I want to put rhubarb and strawberries, and possibly blueberries. Will the pine needles be bad for my gardens? How would you deal with this?
