VIDEO: Saving Seeds with Lee Barnes Part 2 Open-Pollinated vs. Hybrids


Lee Barnes was honored at the 29th annual Carolina Farm Stewardship Association’s Sustainable Agriculture Conference as Activist of the Year. See him receive his award live at the conference and hear his talk about why it’s so important to protect biodiversity by saving our seed heritage for this and future generations.

  1. One big reason for saving seed is that you develop varieties that are accustomed to you particular climate. Every time you buy seed, you buy seed developed for another climate. While you can possibly get seed from a similar climate, no two places have the exact same set of growing conditions. Best to have seeds produced as local as possible
