  1.  I am trying luffa also this year. I am starting them in a papertowel to get a jump start. I am also trying onions and shallots too from seed. I really want to see if I can do it. Will keep trying. I think your ginger is looking pretty good for it to be cold out. I can't get any to grow for me at all. So annoying!  Nice on the woodpiece for free!
I am hoping you find what the issue is with your ear. Since you are having such horrible pain I am sure the docs will be able to find the issue and solve it for you. Sending you positive vibes.

  2. I have never heard of the Hook??? plant. Can not spell it to look it up. But if the roots are small it may work. The tubers are large on the Yakon. I have 3 baby's on my now. Good luck on your seed. That would be scary having the surgery. But I really hope they can make you well. Best wishes. E

  3. An effective wood shredder – great for mulching. The 60 day Broccoli is a good. Intersesting if the older seeds will work. That's a nice piece of furniture for free.Sorry to hear about your Ear and Throat . You could ask the doctor what is it they could take out. Best wishes

  4. It seems that ANY seed that goes into my worm farm comes out with a 100% germination rate. The compost seems to be a perfect medium for starting seeds, and a great deal of it is used for that purpose. The problem with that is trying to start heirloom seeds and having a dozen other seeds start too that I have no idea what they might be. I am going to bake this compost to kill the seeds in it at hopefully a low enough temperature so as not to compromise the benefit of it. I also add groung up egg shells to the compost, and when I transplant my tomatoes to the garden, I add a generous amount of it under the plant as food, and to help with blossom end rot.

  5. Hope they'll find what is wrong and not have to cut out anything.
One of the remedies the medical care seems to like to do a lot. Just cut it out and see if that works. Sounds more like engineering then actual science. Wood-chipper works fine, lots of noise tho, which I would find pretty annoying, but then if you'd want to do it all by hand …. :o)
One question : The worm-castings, do you use them pure, do you add some other stuff ?
I added a bit of sand to it, and prolly was some peat-moss in the old potting mix that's in there too.
    Cheers !

  6. I'm sorry to hear about your health problems and having to go to the hospital.  Wish you all the best with that.
I totally agree with you that we should always try and grow everything we can from a seed.  Just like you I've been trying to grow onions from seeds with similar to yours results.  lol  Last year I sucked up and bought the onion bulbs.  This year I'll be doing both, the seeds and the bulbs. I have to figure this out. lol

  7. So sorry to hear you have been in so much pain, Jay. That must be miserable. Sounds more like nerve damage or inflammation around a nerve to me. Of course I'm no doctor so my opinion doesn't carry much weight. I'll be praying that they find out what is wrong and correct it for you. Your garden area looks bigger and better all the time. Hope all those seedlings produce big beautiful plants for you. I wish I could help you with that ginger. I know they like slightly moist soil and heat. I just plopped mine in the ground and they grew like crazy in that woodchip soil. I sure would like to have a wood shredder. We've talked about getting one. Maybe someday. Take care and let us know how you are doing. Prayers going up, my friend.

  8. Funny that I should have just finished messaging you about the shredder and hear you are with another video. All the best for your hospital appointment I hope they get things sorted for you

  9. Just finished mulching up all, the pigeon peas from out the front for the compost cage today.. Al.ways a fun job 🙂
No problem on the seeds at all Jay.. Hope they do better for you this time round.. Will be interesting to see how the luffas go for you too..
Sorry it's taken me a while to catch up on your clips & hope the surgery went well..
    Cheers mate..
