  1. I have the worst luck trying to get mine to sprout? I bought potatoes from tractor supply for planting & they’re not sprouting? Should I put them in the freezer like the weekend before planting? Would that be long enough? Maybe I’m just being impatient? Do they need to be sprouting before you plant them?

  2. The main reason I buy seed potatoes is they are certified disease free and should not bring disease into my soil and also should grow into healthy potatoes with no blight or rot spots in them.

  3. I was just watching a video about how to store onions for 6 months. The guy on the video said do not store onions near potatoes because it makes the potatoes sprout. I wonder if storing bananas would work even better. I also ripen fruit inside a paper bag, it works well with peaches and nectarines. Maybe storing potatoes in a paper bag with onions or bananas would speed the process up.

  4. yeah, it's hard to deinhibit grocery store potatoes. ha. Do it anyway! Trying to get eyes to turn green, that's why i'm here. I want to start planting them soon.

  5. I used store bought potatoes. I bought a single store bought potato in July 2020 and it took several months for it to sprout. Sprout inhibitors do exactly that — inhibit sprouting, but they do not stop it, they just take longer. Once it sprouted, I put it in a 5-gallon bucket under a grow light over the winter. by April, I had 3 mini potatoes. Then I chitted those three potatoes, which was much easier without the inhibitor. I planted them in my garden at the end of May and now I've got four awesome potato plants in my garden.
