We plant these later this month outside. We're lucky to have such a warm( read blisteringly hot) summer, so as long as we water daily we have perfect weather for squash. If course that means that they are super cheap, about $1 for a butternut squash in the cheaper stores. We only grow the yummy types that we like and aren't grown commercially here, like buttercup and larger winter types. Of course we usually have a volunteer pumpkin come up that supplies the kids with Halloween carving ones.
Calabrese to plant in May for late fall harvest trail this year. It's italian seed from a Rome area with similar climate to us. Fingers crossed. The romanesca did well over mild winter, so we'll see. Right on middle of pea harvest now. It looks like it will hold until the dwarf french beans are ready. Then we'll plant trellis french bean varieties for mid summer/fall where peas are now.

I'm behind with my sowing and in my video watching.
I meant to grow butternut squash this year and forgot to do it. Too much on my mind lately. Anyway, I heard the squash bugs leave butternut squash alone, which would be a real blessing in my garden as I'm not able to grow squash because of those little rascals.

I got some butternut squash in at the weekend as well, although you have persuaded me I should get a move on with my sunflowers, so thanks for the prompt. Al looking great. I haven't been doing much 'digging' videos either so I have got a bit of a lull on videos but hopefully I can get some planting done at the weekend and that will be much more exciting.
