After weeks of care, having your harvest destroyed by a sudden influx of pests can be extremely disheartening.
The problem is that most pest control methods available to gardeners rely on prevention – knowing when the pests are likely to strike, so you can take action before it’s too late! That’s why we’re delighted to introduce The Big Bug Hunt – a new citizen science project to collect information about pest behaviour with the aim of notifying you when pests are heading your way.
In this video we offer simple tips on protecting your plants from common pests and explain how you can get involved in the Big Bug Hunt. Let’s beat the bugs together! Visit http://BigBugHunt.com

I see so many varieties of insects that I am unable to identify. It would be helpful to have an app which would help us identify them by pictures we take, like face recognition does.

When I go to the website I can't see the whole screen – I can see the tops of buttons at the bottom, but there's no scroll for me to scroll down and see what to click on to get started.
I have contributed to the Big Bug Hunt database, and wish you had an insect identification module… if only we could post a photo and others weigh in on what it is.
Frogs bring snakes.
you can also have a bug farm. instead of killing them.
A Hits!
its pretty a nice idea thx ; )
I remember when I was a teen I made a garden out front of the house. At first the biggest pests were the farm animals: the pigs thought it was a litter box, the dog thought it was a bed, the chickens thought it was a (dust)bath and the goats thought it was a buffet. Finally after a month or so I decided to harvest the only remaining crop. The turnips. As I trimmed and washed them I found lots of little white maggots! With the help of my trusty hen Sally we disposed of them and I was left with about 2 cups of chopped turnips. The soil was poor and because we didn't have running water it was quite dry, the fact I got anything was a miracle. Now my most recent annoying pest is scale bugs, I think they arrived on a dwarf lime tree I bought mail order. They like my houseplants.
GrassHoppers big trouble here but they like to settle and chew on the tallest plants ..So I now grow the giant sunflower as bait so they leave my okra alone
I got tons of slugs, grubs, and pill bugs.
White weevils, is terrible infestation in Florida. I have never seen them before. I sprayed with neem oil, vinegar, picked them in a bucket with pure vinegar, they just continue swimming. I have to fiscally kill them. They fly and reproduce very quickly. Does anyone knows how to eliminate them.

I love the idea! But to make it easier to report bugs on the go, could you please create a nap? Also, help out those of us who can’t recognize bugs on sight by providing pictures and descriptions, or a decision tree that leads us to the correct species we are trying to report.
