VIDEO: Garden suffering and What I've been up to

Lot’s of changes and reorganizing going on here. Death in the family, information finally coming out that changes a lot of things and a new job has shaken our plans and focus. The garden has suffered during this time and the movement towards self sufficiency by my definition has become even more important than ever but is stalled. Hopefully within the next week we will have our balance back and will start making videos on how we do it in the hopes it may help and inspire.

  1. We all need to work now & then to earn some $$, even tho that will take some time we could spend on growing food and projects that will help us saving money. The sad thing is that the $$ earned will also be partly used to spend on buying food and stuff that has to be bought because we don't have the time to be thrifty.
Also, because you are older, and have more experience, you can oversee these jobs better. The young have more energy, but they miss direction. I see that too. We (older) guys might seem too expensive, but in the end we cost less money because we are more efficient, even if it looks we work slower. Hope you earn enough so that you can get back to your own projects ;o)
    Cheers Jay !

  2. My thoughts are with you. Things will work out for the best. I am glad you have the property to grow more things. And found this opportunity to now be full time. I know this is all a bit stressful. You have many people who care. So vent if that will help you find peace.

  3. I did 5 years of gardening with life support.  I started planting tomatoes deep to ensure root development and to get the roots down into the ground moisture.  This year I dug down 18 inches and set the plants into the hole.  then refilled as they grew out of the ground. now they are almost 4 feet tall which means they are 5 1/2 .  I had to neglect the garden while doing the tile project.  result is everything is over grown but everything is still growing and producing so I will sort out things when I harvest.

  4. Man, just putting up and taking down the scaffolding would be a major job. Life does have a tendency to throw a few curves which changes your plans. Beautiful work on the great looking home. We know all about tending a garden not on your property. Our garden is about 46 miles from our home. Keep plugging, you will get there.  Bernard
