Those were some nice size tubers. They come from the same area as the Oca. There re other root crop from that area too. It seems they are short day plants like the potatoes are too. Bone of them like heat. But some survive, that have more shade. I had to split up my yacon and transplant in July. They were floating out of the container from too much rain. And one lived. It had 2 small tubers developing. I look forward to see your other harvest.
You will have to give some advice on how to overwinter the rhizomes so they can be planted out next year. Great looking harvest. A bigger tub seems to be the way to go.
Too bad you couldn't harvest them all at the same time. Take care of the arm. Best wishes Bob.

Still trying to figure out what this yacon is, or tastes like. Potato, sweet potato/yam, jicama, taro root, lotus, cat tail root, …
Those tubers look wonderful. Hope you arm gets better soon and see the rest of the results of the experiment. Take care
Wow that tuned out great I still have some to harvest I am looking forward to see what I get. I will plant in a more shady spot next year ๐
What a great result, that's some big tubers, I looking forward to seeing those in the ground.
Ok had to look up on Google this is like sweet potato, well done my friend ๐ Thumbs up ๐
Thanks for sharing the results of your experiments with yacon. That first harvest was pretty impressive.
Whats a Yacon? What does it taste similar to? and how do you prepare and eat it?
Cheers Bill
Fantastic looking harvest Jay. Much better than my past few. Did you eat them fresh or cook them up someway?
Cheers.
WOW! Great harvest mate. I got hardly anything on my first attempt. I'm hoping to do a lot better this year.
Did yo harvest the other three yet?ย I'm dying to know which one did the most tuber wise.Thx.
