  1. Hi Mark,Just stumbled in to your channel. Crazy how that oldest pile of leaves was already generating enough heat to produce "steam" when you knocked over the pile. This leads to a question. Having not explored your channel, do you think a biomeiler heater would benefit your farm? Cheers,   BillPS now onto more of your videos.

  2. Are these curbside leafs? Was thinking if people got them from town don't you still have to worry about what people are putting on their lawns that there raking they're leafs off?

  3. The property I've lived on for the past 4 years has 2 huge poplar trees, 3 dogwoods and various other large trees and deciduous shrubs surrounding it. Raking the leaves and dumping them out front used to feel like an annoying chore. But thanks to your videos Mark, I'm inspired and have started my leaf mold pile this year. So good to know I'm using the resources nature has granted me with and helping to build up my horrible clay soil at the same time.

  4. Thank you so much for this video. I just got 10 bags of leaves. From the landscaper to put in my home Garden. Wasn’t too sure about the brown leaves but I figured they would work out. Have not been able to get mulch yet. I took all the brown leaves and spread them out. Then use my blower to blow them around in place and even them out. then I turn the sprinkler on and watered them down. Can I do this instead of using mulch? I did pick up a couple bales of straw also.

  5. My father started having the village dump leaves at our dairy farm back in the mid 60's… The pile was near the barn and all winter we used a fork and wheelbarrow to bring them into the barn and sprinkle then the full length of the gutter. This helped move everything up the slope before dumping in the manure spreader. Free fertilizer for the corn crop. Apparently my father was ahead of the times…. thanks for the video…

  6. I've tried to get leaves from our town, but they have never answered my requests. They do have a site that I can get the leaves from, but I'm limited to what I can haul away in my pickup truck.

Wish I could get half as many leaves as you do.

  7. I am fortunate, I drive a 6 x 6 Magirus Deutz Tipper truck, no problem. I also know a lot of farmers who will store the leaves for years until they have moulded down, then I collect them, plus loads of rotted farm yard manure, and give it to all who needs it as I am not selfish and believe in sharing for those who have a bit of difficulty obtaining great stuff like that. I help the elderly citizens, and people poorly off, or just in general not capable of hauling stuff about. I like nothing in return, but a smile, and making some one happy is such a drug. I encourage more people to do this, making the world a more awesome place is very special.

  8. all that diesel to deliver and process leaves into inferior soil? Wouldn't it just be better to grow cover crops or green mulch and partially till into soil. I am all for composting leaves or paper or cardboard or wood chips or even rotten meat. but FFS transporting leaves just isn't worth it. Its much better for the environment to just buy synthetic fertilizer.

  9. Hi ! this video already dates from 2915, but I had a question about the leaves of oaks, I have always been told that they contain a lot of tannins, a substance that would seem difficult to deal with, have you seen information about the compost made with oak leaves? thank you for the return, your videos are very appreciated!

  10. We have a lot of trees in our yard that shed leaves in the fall. What month or months should I go for if I want to spread them out to give me fertile soil for my garden in March?

  11. I am only at 8 minutes but I hope you say how you get free CHOPPED UP leaves delivered.Delivered for free also? Why are some of the leaves broken down into soil already when delivered?

  12. I rake leaves in the neighborhood and add pine needles to make a great fertilizer. Need to find a way to get pine needles and leaves delived. Some neighbors bag there leaves and dropt them off. Enjpyed your video. Thanks!
