Great video! But is it ok to run antifreeze through the water pump? Maybe I am thinking about a water heater bypass. I love the idea of using the pink stuff in the toilet. I would have never thought of doing that.

I was surprised to hear that you didn't have a hot water tank. I gather no outside shower as well? Great informational video in spite of that. I presume you will be doing your windows with reflex material as last year?

Last year at this time was when the weather turned to endless bitter cold….although it's snowing now ….it still a lot warmer than last….hopefully that trend will continue. Happy New Years

Another good video. One question – where do you find a dump station in the winter? I live north of Toronto and can't find a dump station after Thanksgiving.

Just flabbergasted that you have been living in your van for a year with no hot water. How on earth do you go without? 🙂
Okay I do have a question. When really cold out and the antifreeze is too sluggish for fresh tank into the toilet – and you use other antifreeze manually in the toilet inside the warm RV – but therefore the gray and black tanks are also sluggish, how do you dump the gray and black tanks? Has the gray and black tank antifreeze ever been so cold and sluggish that you couldn't dump them?

I just got a class B and didn't really understand how to winterize. Your video made it easy to understand. Thank you! EXCEPT I do have a hot water tank and I was just going to pull the plug and drain it. Sounds like there's more to it. Could you please explain?

Good job. Many systems have a bypass hose that allows one to drop a hose into the jug of pink antifreeze and then pump it thru the system leaving the fresh water tank stay empty after you turn a couple of valves. You also forgot one thing ….. the inlet for the city water connection usually has a spring loaded pin in the center of the fitting …. if you press that pin in while you have the pump turned on , you will also run the antifreeze backwards thru the city water valve to ensure that there is no water left in that part of the line and thus prevent it from freezing.
What about a Composting toilet? Much easier.
I never would have thought of using the toilet with Antifreeze. Brilliant.

@ 11:30 when you pick up the clean water hose with your now bare gloveless hands to put it away is exactly why you should always wash your hands immediately after, before touching another thing. You handled that hose with your gloves that handled the sewer hose, cap, and ground cover for the dumping station. After putting the clean water hose away you gave a good smack to the same door that probably was smacked/handled by others with dirty gloves on (you can see the marks on the door) & then touched your door handle, steering wheel (to drive away). Like many people on the road I'm guessing you occasionally eat something while driving, if even just a snack. Now you're sticking those same bathroom related germs directly in your mouth.
I'm not a germophobe, but bathroom related germs are on a completely different level considering they can transmit bacteroides, Salmonella and Shigella, E. coli, and a whole lot of other nasty bacteria not to be trifled with. Many serious infectious diseases caused by these and others are cholera, typhoid, hepatitis, polio, cryptosporidiosis, ascariasis, and schistosomiasis.
Spend a few minutes to really think through what you're going to touch and in what order when dealing with things you know are most definitely contaminated with things you wouldn't want in your eyes or mouth.

Have you ever heard of reflexic? I think I spelled that right. You can put in underneath you and it reflects your body heat and is supposed to keep you very warm. It's available at Home Depot in the U S.
