Can't wait until the segment on kumquats!
Thanks I'm all over that got to grab one soon
I used to eat a grapefruit per day. When a statin was prescribed as a cholesterol lowering drug, the instructions said I could not eat grapefruit while I was using a statin unless the doctor okayed it. I asked my doctor and he said I would have to change to Oranges. One year I forgot and started eating my grapefruit per day. After 3 weeks I started having muscle pains in my legs. Just before I went to the doctor for it, I remember about the grapefruit / statin connection. I stopped the grapefruit and pains went away in a few days. I watched your video. The local grocery store did not have anything resembling a Pomelo. (Small town, only one grocery store.) Today I went to the next town, where they have a Walmart. I found something called a Red Pummelo for $1.99 (U.S.). I bought one to try. My wife and I followed your instructions on how to eat one. I had more trouble getting the outer skin off. I found it difficult to get the thin skin off the sections until my wife tried cutting the white strip off the pointed edge of the section, then it released easily and we could peel it back both sides. It definitely had more juice than you described. I had to wash my hands a couple of times as I peeled and ate my half. Then I went to my computer and Googled "Pomelo", sure enough, Pummelo is an alternate spelling. As I read the article about them I came to a section called "Drug Interactions". When I clicked on the link it said "See grapefruit". When I clicked on that link it described muscle pains as an interaction with grapefruit and most statins, but it noted that Pravastatin is an exception to the rule, no interaction there. Pravastatin is the drug I am currently taking. I think I will check with my druggist and doctor to see if I can eat this stuff.
That was much more interesting than I thought it was going to be. I thought how can they fill 14 minutes with a big grapefruit. You did it.
Today i got one Pomelo (bought it because of your vid) and it was delicious. Thx for this tip.
Well that was some interesting knowledge about citrus fruit, thanks for sharing!
This made my mouth water! I love oranges, I'd love to try one of these. Unfortunately I don't think we have them here in the UK 🙁
The pummelo in my local grocery store was $4.99 lol
Got a Pomelo today and tried it out. Not bad, not sure which kind I got in Utah but it was pink inside and was juicy than what you had. The first for me. It was 1.99. I will get more of them. Thanks for the Video and intro to this new citrus fruit. You guys rock 🙂 Amanda
Fascinating! Will have to try them!
Thanks, guys!
Paula's hair looked very nice in this episode.
Another Vanner here! just ate my first one yesterday! it was good! Thanks for sharing…but mine was so juicy! I was a sticky mess by the end! IG @adVANtureswithdustin
i try it ,really good ! my wife love it ! thank's for share it.
Thanks to you I've been addicted to these for the last 3 weeks. Best price here in California I could find is $1.99.
Must be full of vitamins.
I did live in Thailand for 6 years and ate a lot of Pomelo, I did know a person who had a Pomelo tree in his garden. I do love to eat them, but…… There is, for me, a small bad side effect to Polelo. Well I guess not bad to me, more so to the people around me. 🙂
Pomelo do give me gas, and it is a very stinky gas.
But yea they taste great.
Nice touch with the intro about various citrus fruits! The South Asian variety is rounder, greener on the outside and usually dark pink inside. They have huge seeds, much larger than that of oranges. Putting some salt on them definitely enhances the taste, nice to see that you know that already.
Learned something new. Thanks
Well that was a great video! Thanks so much, we ate it as you were explaining and it tastes great!
I live in the north of Sweden. Me and my family love pomelo. I tasted it for the first time 40 years ago in Israel. We can buy it november to mars. Its kind of therapeutic to eat it, good taste and a bit of work, not for breakfast but as an evening snack. Love your videos.
Thank you !
Mai
Very nice video. We have a Pomelo Tree in our home. It is a very common fruit in north east india, but the inside of the fruit is normally pink or white not yellow. People from this part of the world eat the fruit with salt and green chili.
Wow, the pomelo looks like just a straight up better version of orange!
You should have your own show on tv. You are very good at explaining things.
still at one third of the video. and they also taste great
Peeling it looks like helping some sort of alien egg to hatch. I'm curious to try one now.
I saw them at the supermarket for the first time recently and really wanted to try them but they sold them by weight and they would have been like $7-8 US each! That's a crazy expensive fruit!
Holy crap, your pomelo was disgustingly, wastefully packaged. Why the heck would they wrap a fruit with a thick natural protective skin in so much plastic?!
Watch it when you poop! Pulps are still there!
This is how I even found about pomelos 😀
And it became my favourite fruit!
lol lol never saw such a scientific way to skin a pomelo hehehe
