  1. Love your videos. I just dug up three-year-old asparagus which had already come out of dormancy which I know is a bad thing but I had to move it unfortunately. Two of the plants were female and had berries but the berries were not red yet (still green) Can I still use the seeds from them or am I Sol?

  2. I have an 8' x 2' raised bed that was full of old chicken manure and dried comfrey. This spring I topped it off with lots of old sheep manure. I bought 2 packets of asparagus seeds and planted them straight in the raised bed about 2" apart in all directions. They all came up everywhere. Do I need to thin them? Should I trim them back before I cover with straw for the winter? I live in central B.C.

  3. Luke, it’s early August here in south Jersey. My asparagus plants are just about turning the seed pods red. We have about 6 plants total. Do I need to wait until the does are red? Another question is: these plants have been producing for about 5 years. Can I transplant them to another (raised bed) location?
Thanks for making such an informative channel.

  4. There are a ton of vids showing this, but hard to find info on what to do when the asperugus comes up and ferns. Mine when through the Fern and died, so I threw them out. I know I shouldn't have, but I don't know what to do with them next. Do you have another vid explaining this process and what to expect from the baby ferns?

  5. I started asparagus seeds 3 per little module as you show in the helpful video but they all germinated! Can I safely separate them or would it damage the roots? I hate to lose 2/3 of the seedlings by snipping off 2 per module, but is that the answer? I'm hoping they're pretty tough and I can separate them and pot them on, but I've never grown them before. Thanks for all the great videos!

  6. Hello from Ontario! I have some red asparagus berries from last years harvest (they have been in the fridge from aug 2019 until june 2020) Do you just throw one berry in each cell? They have like.. 4 seeds per berry. Or do you discard the berry and plant the seed separately. I heard that people dont recommend planting seeds from the original plant because most farmers prefer male only plants. What are your thoughts? Thanks

  7. I planted Asparagus at the back of a flower bed on the north side of a fence to create a green cloud fern background. After 3 years I have asparagus that comes up in the lawn, cracks in the driveway & overtaking the flowerbed.

  8. Thanks a lot for the video. Great. After placing seeds in place in the containers, do we have to water (spray) the seed with a little water until germinate and continue till grow up to some 6 inches before planting in the garden patch.
