Explore the forest and learn to identify edible wild plants and mushrooms with naturalist, herbalist and storyteller, Doug Elliott along with mushroom expert Ken Crouse of Peaceful Valley Farm. Doug shares songs, folklore and old mountain wisdom of native plant uses as well as handed down humorous tales. 1. Hi Doug and Ken congratulations on a very informative video.
I'm from New Zealand and currently live in Sydney Australia. Both these countries have been growing inoculated trees for over 12 years now and are successfully exporting Truffles. The annual harvest is increasing very rapidly as numbers and size of harvested Truffles increases. One of the major problems is training enough "Truffle Dogs" to locate them
Every year I buy a small amount to use in some of my recipes and also make my own Truffle oils which are far superior to the store bought oils. I make up 500ml of oil which I splash on my eggs as a Sunday morning treat 🙂
    The Truffles I buy are approx 50-75g at about $AUS 1/gram approx 75c US/gram.
Yes, they are expensive but so much cheaper than a Truffle enhanced dish at a restaurant
