Your ladies look so gorgeous! Do you grow comfrey? Since that can be harvested several times a season, it might be possible to just tie up bundles and air dry to feed to them in winter. It's kind of like the old farming habit of trimming green branches off trees for the cows and stacking in the barn to add variety and nutrients. (I got that from one of the BBC Farm shows 😉 )
yep its that time again, I use high protien dry Cat Food and they love it ,,,nice content thanks Patara
How much Apple cider vinegar do I add to water
How much Apple cider vinegar do I add to water
How much Apple cider vinegar do you put in per gallon?
How does one dehydrate an egg ? cook it first ? Also, I cannot condone cl[ckens on crack. Sets a bad example. Also, "i'm a worm farner.", pronsbly not good as an ice breaker when asking for a date. Seriousy, though, from all I've learned from you about chibkens, I could coach someone through it. Thank you.
I have found that my chickens love the black oil sunflower seeds. They eat it first out of the food.
I have Rhode Island Reds and all summer I have been only getting 1 or 2 eggs a day out of 5 chickens, they are a little over 2 years old. They get scraps, feed, mealworms, gravel and grit and oyster shell, they seem healthy.. but I am baffled at why they aren't laying eggs! DO you have any idea's??
I have been molting for 20 years now, and I have never had my hair grow back. I might have to try you diet 🙂
Good timing! Thanks for the tips!!! Will have to look into getting some of those meal worms. Our local Agway sells them, but they are a fortune!!
We free range and make sure everyone gets a nice variety. Our hens are facing their first molt. We are finally getting cooler weather. I raise my own mealworms and they go crazy for them. Thanks for all your great advice. I had a bantam hen go broody and I know what to you thanks to you. Blessings and Hugs from Texas
Great info, Patera! My gals are just getting over molting down here in FL, still not laying eggs. Will definitely add some supplements to help them through this. Love your passion for your chickees! Keep the videos coming. 😉
I Watched your most informative video and felt like I had been mean to my girls because I remembered I had not given them a treat in a while. Immediately sent Sweet Man to stock up on treat scratch. The girls love me again, thanks for the reminder.
thanks for the tips for my girls! <3 xoxo
Do you feed your ducks the same as you feed your chickens?
I have excess kitten food do you think it would be ok to give to my porcupine chickens? And how much would I give them a day?
Any particular cat food you use? Brand? Looks like a pillow fight in my coops, definitely in the air lol
Patara I so love you! You are so full of great information and you have helped me immensely with solving a lot of my problems with my beautiful loving hens! Not pertaining to this video although, I was wondering if you could help me. My one hen has like these pockets between her toes in the webs of her feet. I cleaned them out with warm water and Epsom salts and it was like a big ball of hard crud build up that I removed. Happy of our achievement, only for the pockets to fill up again that they protrude like balls on the top of her feet between the webs. Do you have any ideas on how I can stop those pockets from filling up all the time. I even tried some prep H to see if I could shrink the skin pockets to no avail!
Have you ever been to the new Rural King near Halls?? It's where the old Walmart was…they have a fees called Feather Fixer thought about trying that out for my girls….they just had 50lb bags of whole corn for less then $6. I honestly could spend HOURS in there! They have any and everything you'd ever need!!!
We give meal worms out 2-3 times a week and the older ones peck the little ones and we give the little ones their own pile then the older ones eat all of theirs then go to the little ones then the little ones get some in their cage and the cycle repeats;).They love love love love LOVE meal worms and corn.
i also add
flat oats barley wheat
i use cup of 7grain scratch to older hens
My girls eat my dogs food pretty much daily. lol
you are fantastic, i love your videos. thank you for helping our gals lay and stay healthy
I love this video. Great info about chickens.Thank you.
Is it safe to give the BOS to hens in the shells? I had a hen end up w/a blocked crop because of BOS. Do you crack them up first?
Great video thank you 🙂
Thank you so much, great info and appreciate your time.
Thank you for educating me.
