VIDEO: Pruning Perennial Capsicum in Raised Garden Bed After Wind Damage

I check the vegetable patch to find our perennial capsicum plant branches have broken in the wind! Oh the horror! So, I go about fixing the problem and chat a bit about growing them and cucumbers in a raised garden bed.

  1. with the capsicum pepper branch that broke, if that happened to me with tomato's would it be wise to put the stem in some water and try to let it mature?

  2. Sorry to see your wind-broken plants. I was wondering, would it be possible to propagate from the broken branches, or were they too dried out?
Having a few plants in reserve, somewhere protected from wind. That way you can keep your productive plants safe and practice the skill of propagating.

  3. Bearing in mind the beds are raised they will be more vulnerable to wind damage. You could try surrounding the taller plants with twiggy stakes to lend some support. I live in a very windy place and yearn for a walled garden.

  4. I find that I have to cage my capsicum plants due to this same problem. Do you have any recommendations for growing cukcumber? I always get hit with cucumber beetles and rarely get any worth harvesting.

  5. Most relevant video I could find to my problem, but still not quite what I was looking for. I'm growing green beans in a large container with some other veggies. They were doing great until a wind storm yesterday snapped the stem off right at the ground. Will the plant grow new roots in a jar of water with some dirt/ashes mixed in for food?

  6. @selfsufficientme is there a way to stop ants attacking our capsicums? would we just use Vaseline at the base like suggested in the pest deterent video? We can't seem to get our capsicums to grow and haven't ever got fruit before something eats them

  7. My capsicum seems to have a lot of whitish disease growing on the stems…
Only has it for about 6-12 months.
Did get a few small capsicums off it but now they aren’t growing healthily.
What is a remedy for bringing it back.
