VIDEO: 22 TIPS to Help Cope with PTSD Push-Ups Compilation

Last year I participated in the 22 push-ups in 22 Days challenge #22PushupChallenge to raised awareness for Veterans suffering post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and in particular the absurd suicide rate amongst us Military Personnel, Police Officers, etc.

This challenge required that the nominated person commit to and conduct 22 push-ups each day for 22 days with proof of the act being a video upload to Facebook, YouTube, or other social network. I uploaded my videos to Facebook since this is where I was nominated for the challenge by a friend.

Personally, I myself was diagnosed with PTSD years ago and I touch on my personal story in the opening set of push-ups. Due to my own experience in successfully coping with PTSD I thought it might be useful to some people if I gave my own tips on coping with PTSD during each quick video so this is what I have done.

I decided to collate all 22 videos into one and in the process, I have cut out the superfluous and left in the main tips I convey about coping with PTSD after/before each set of push-ups.

To be honest, I often consider these types of events/campaigns to be flash in the pan exercises in virtue signalling; however, I ended up taking part in the chance that it might help in a positive way someone with PTSD or suicidal thoughts and of course raise awareness for this important issue.

Thank you very much for watching and sharing – Note: this video is NOT monetized meaning I don’t make money from people watching it so share with a free conscious that this is non-profit.

  1. Hey, great video and advice here, Came to your channel for the gardening tips and found this. Actually found it really helpful and funny to watch (in a good way) I am just starting to realise a conection with my trouble and PTSD. I am not a VET (always tooill or injured to serve) But I was dignosed with Fibromilgia over 10 years ago, it took me 7 years to get back on my feet so to speak (2 years liturally) it also caused a lot of mental health problems during that time, that could have been avoided with correct treatment from the doctors, the resulting treatment from the mental health doctors was even worse(in the UK) which is the result of a lot of my issues as a result tip 21 is not one I am able to bring myself to using as it was the cause in the first place, the the first 20 where a great help…. and 22 well im undesided but open minded, i´ll get back to watching your gardening tips now, you have a new subscriber 🙂

  2. I'm so glad you did this. It's wonderful to bring attention to it and positive advice. And by the way you shouldn't put yourself down about having your shirt. You look great honestly.

  3. I'm glad you mentioned that PTSD is not just from military service. Alot of people aren't aware of that. Since this is a video on awareness of PTSD I just wanted to mention that one of the most common causes is actually sexual assault. Thanks for the vid

  4. G'day Mark. I found your channel a few months ago as I am new to gardening and I am taking it up to help me cope with life. I just came across this episode and it has encouraged me to seek the help I feel i need due to suffering with Ptsd for a couple of years following a violent assult leading to traumatic brain injury. Living alone and trying to put a strong front on can be tiring. Thanks for all you do. I look forward to watching through your back catalogue as well as the great content you keep providing us.

    Much Appreciated.

  5. Hey Mark. Just wanted to say Thank You. I have been in a really low place lately due to the loss of my partner of 28 years. He not only meant the world to me, he was my world. Trying to just find a starting place to start over was making me think some dark thoughts. I just happened across this video and while watching started to cry and then really cry and let go of a little of the pain. I haven't been sharing any of this with any of my friends or family but your words and insights have started me down a different path. Thank you again for the words of wisdom and advice on how to get started. Know that trolls and haters only express what they don't have real world experience with. Your videos and insights are appreciated by way more real world people than digital voices screaming into the void to get a attention. Take care and keep doing what you are doing because we are listening.

  6. I have loved your videos for some time. Just ran into this one. I have shared my life for over 40 years with a wonderful man who gave much in the service and our son has too. Both men are my heros. PTSD is no joke and is hard for the whole family. You Rock for taking the time and doing such an awesome job. Thank you for such a wonderful video.
