Jk lol never mind apparently
a new twist on the ugly duckling. the duckling is cute but not a chicken
So sweet! ❤
animals are just amazing.
I watched a video yesterday where mama hen was hunkered down. When the guy checked she was on two kittens. Such good mothering instincts.
good video thanks for sharing that little duckling is and she's claiming it God bless
Mother Nature is amazing ! — shows the acceptance and adaptability present in the. animal world . It would be great if humans could follow this. example !
What about her baby, Silver?? When will they be together?
How will it learn to swim
That is so sweet.
fun funny and wonders full, will enjoy watching the duck grow, and the interaction of it all … years ago, I was a nursing Mother, babysitting for a friends baby, I only nursed that baby once, and the bond was huge … hehehe … (y) …
so cute!
awww thanks for the smile today
I was just thinking the same thing, are you my mother? This is just adorable. Looking forward to seeing this little grow up.
So cute!!! Have a good afternoon!!!
so cute!!
shouldn't the duckling be in water
OMG.. too cute! Hmmm.. Duck and Silkie…… Dusil… pronounced like Lucille. Hahahaha
"CHICKEN HATCHES DUCK ! IS THE END NEAR ?". Woulda made good click bait !! 🙂
When I was a kid we had a chicken that hatched 4 duck eggs. She did a great job of raising them, the one thing that sticks out in my memory was watch that mother hen go nuts then the ducklings entered the pond for the first time. lol
There's really only one name for a girl isn't there? Despite her size or colour she'd HAVE to be "Lady Marmalade" surely, (but if you wanted to stay more traditional she could be Della). My votes the first one. For a boy it's a little harder with Daffy, Donald, Huey, Dewey, and Louie all taken. Do you intend to put a little dish of water in for Ducklet Marmalade to splash in?
Few years back one of our free range ducks disappeared. We looked and called for her, but we couldn't find her. Few times I thought that I spotted her by the food, but I couldn't swear to it. Well… almost a month later she reappeared with 12 ducklings. We spotted them in a pond. Mama duck and her tiny babies were swimming in the water. I cannot tell you how surprised and delighted we were. We watched them with big interest, because we wanted to know if ducklings were going to be ok, by swimming in the water( temperature was 80* outside). They would swim for awhile, then mama would go and sit on the grass, and all babies would hide under her. They all would sit like that for awhile, and only then she went to look for food. Food was to big for ducklings, that's when mama panicked. She was so distressed, that I ran inside and brought corn meal for ducklings( before I bought special food, as I didn't know that I was going to have ducklings). They ate, and mama duck went back to the pond with her babies. We left them be. Not one has died. They grew so fast. But without mama duck, ducklings cannot go and swim, because they would be to cold after a swim.
When I incubate I peep back at them while they are peeping. I peep/whistle back at them when they sound distressed and it seems to calm them.
Ah, Miss Patti, look at you go! That little one is absolutely adorable!
soooo sweet!!!!
That is her baby, she doesn't care it's a duck, such a good chicken. 🙂
