  1. Just an observation, but refueling over the growing area is a good way to contaminate your soil with petroleum. And yes, I do realize its a pain to move the BCS manually off the plot, especially in plowed soil.

  2. How does this affect property values? Does your house drop do your neighbors? I'm all for having gardens etc but on this scale in a neighborhood? I was raised on a farm and spent 19 years on it. But now as a homeowner in the suburbs I have to be honest and say I would be concerned with this. How would one market their home, oooh that's my neighbors farm don't mind the greenhouse? I enjoy your videos and I'm not bashing at all just curious about that aspect of it. Thanks.

  3. Curtis i'm so glad you did this video. The one plot I'm expanding on has a couple ruts, so to speak, and a natural slope that kind of funnels on the low end and goes to one side.. The video answered a couple questions. If you think it would be fitting, I know I would greatly benefit from you filming how you guys finish leveling it off.

  4. Just tore up some sod this week and put in 4 more 25 foot beds. Pretty sure I accidentally crossed some of my seed rows while seeding kale. Hopefully that won't affect germination or growth. Very excited to hit my first Market in May!

  5. Wouldn't it be wise to till some Perlite into the soil in this first step?

Looks like great soil, just wondering.

Also, can't you capture some hard surface run-off from the roof and hold it?
I'm gathering that water isn't a huge concern.

  6. Hi Curtis, I live in the lower Mainland of bc and have fallow ag land that hasn't had Any work done on it yet this year as I was battling illness for the past three months. Am I too late to crush the soil prep and make a go of the year? Not sure if you have a vid on later-season plot starts? Love the informative videos, beautiful of you to share content so freely 🙂

  7. He's not afraid to ask for help, that's impressive. He's getting older, we all can relate to that right? This is the 3rd video I'm following on this and it's really interesting. Great stuff, I'm definitely gonna buy the book. He has such a lot to teach!

  8. With no plow/bcs, whats the best approach? Access to compost/etc. is a ready option. I have the area tarped to kill off the grass/weeds/etc.. Considering just covering and building beds with a bunch material on top of stale bed? Other option would be purchasing or borrowing a basic tiller and building beds from there? Tilling would allow me to import less material ( maybe less work , not sure ). Covering would require much more material, more wheelbarrow trips and what not. Any thoughts?
