  1. Do you have a regular food auction nearby? You can sell there- you won't make a lot but something is better than nothing. Another idea is to make a customer list and offer a "flash sale" via email or Facebook at steep discounts.

  2. Hi. Great videos. So why compost or let the food go to waste? There's soup kitchens…. people who can't afford to pay for a restaurant can't afford the high prices of veggies at the market. There's so many reasons why you shouldn't just waste the food. I don't know how it works in British Columbia but don't you get a tax write-off or some kind of donation credit if you were to give your food that you're just going to throw in your compost two people who actually need the food but can't afford it? I would think that would really help you with community building and I would think that people would want to do business with you even more if they see that you are also donating what you don't use.

  3. Hi Curtis. I watch a lot of your videos. Can you do on income and expenses of a “model farm” not yours in particular. Keep up the great work

  4. See if you can't offer some of the overprod to some food shelters ?
Composting is good, helps you later on, but eh, if you can help someone else, why not ^^

  5. Why don't you just donate? You can get rid of extra without ruining production later when you need it and people who actually need food like at food banks can have access to fresh greens?

  6. Mate, you live in an urabn area, too much lettuce? Walk to the neighbours house. Strange how you don't even seem to consider that, like as if your only other option is to bin it…. thats messed up if you are living like that and going green but at the same time live like a city man in your mind…

  7. Have you considered purchasing a freeze dryer? You could freeze dry the crops you were going to compost and powder them into a superfood powder. If properly packaged, it would have a 25 year shelf life. This is my plan for my surplus microgreens, and i thought I'd share it with you since you've helped me with my microgreen startup. ❤ i realize this video is over a year old, but if you read this, let me know your thoughts.

  8. Great info, as always. There's studies out there that point out the difference between people who make good money from stock market investment, and those that lose their proverbial shirts. And one of the biggest differences is knowing when to stop/quit/get out.

We have been so programmed into not being a "quitter" that these kind of decisions become "hard". Its not really hard. Its simply being willing to identify market factors and respond appropriately.

Given that you have options for disposal, to charity or compost, both of which are beneficial, it seems that the difficulty lies not in the activity, but in the underlying cognitive dissonance caused by breaking a long held, societally accepted, program.

    Go You!!
