That's awesome, would love to see how it works out
I used compost tea for growing, for me it didn't work like I wanted. Hope you have better luck.
Is the plane ticket included on the workshop for Tennessee or nah?
Put some of that galloway cow manure in that machine and watch the crops explode.. cool
do you speak fluent french curtis?
Hey Curtis thanks for the insight I am looking forward too seeing JM's and Dr ingham's talks at the Montreal soil symposium
Compost tea and biochar have been the biggest game changers on my farm. I've set clients up with these geo-tea brewers, they are getting great results.
Curtis Stone ???? do you ( or jean m fortier ) use moon calendar for sow or transplant all the crops
????
when you don't know the tools that you're using, you're not doing it. binoculars. lol.
I'm pretty sure that is a binocular microscope. I have one.
Hi Curtis. Great videos at JM's farm. I'm building a high tunnel with heated raised beds. If you are still in Quebec can you do a video on the tunnels with the heated soil? How much heat are they adding, what is the spacing of the heat pipes…kind of all the details.
The pressure in the sprayer looked a little excessive, make sure to check a sample that's coming out of the sprayer to ensure the biology is surviving. Plus don't point it directly at the ground, let it float up and down onto the ground. Better off using a compost extract (brewed for 5min-2hrs) for soil/compost application and a tea brewed for 24-48 hrs for foliar application. Best of luck with your experiments
Goddamn. You in quebec. Poutine, maple syrup #Yay
I heard a few you tube talks by Elaine Ingham I would suggest that they test to see if anything is still alive after being spayed through such a high velocity sprayer as it looked quite violent.
I've heard so many different opinions on this subject seeing the end results will be well worth the wait.
have you or farmers you know experimented with adding biochar to soils? I have read alot of hype but not sure if I should believe it.
Love this stuff. As a self taught soil microbiologist from Elaine Ingham it's so important more people start doing this. It a fasincating the world under the scope. Once you understand the soil food web you can start applying it. Most important thing for compost tea is.. You have to have good compost at the start that has good numbers of bacteria/fungi/protozoa and nematodes. The tea is only as good as the compost. Make sure the organisms are there. How long was he brewing that? Elaine says longer brews have a chance of going anaerobic. But if he's scoping every day 6-12 hours then he'll see the ciliates move in. Which is an indicator of it going anaerobic. Biofilm is another huge issue. It takes so much time to clean everything. It has to be cleaned like surgical equipment. Biofilm builds up and degrades teas and adds anaerobic organisms to your next tea. Love this stuff tho. I'm a huge soil nerd!! I have some microscope videos if you want to check it out @theorganicpharmer on Instagram. Cheers everyone! – Ontario, Canada
YES YES YES! PLEASE collect the data and share it when possible! Absolutely great stuff. Thank you, Curtis and JM for sharing! All the best from Freiburg, Germany — Haleigh ๐
Add Bacillus subtillus to your brew and you'll have no diseases.
And cool music ! ๐
there loads of different teas you can make, comfrey, nettle and borage to name but a few !!
I too would so love to see the results Jean-Martin. I suspect there may be some beneficial points throughout the season but the production cost may out-way the minor benefit if your soil is in great condition already. If this is indeed the result, it would be interested in knowing if the brew could help large farms reduce costs in fertilisers as their fields get abused for speed reasons. Anything that can help restore the microbial equilibrium before the next crop would be a real winner.
Obviously the quality of the compost you`re using will be reflected in your compost tea. Are you having to make your own compost or are you able to source it commercially?
Curtis, its almost spring are there any results to report back yet?
JM is so cute, he can call a microscope "binoculars" and I don't care! LOL
Hello Curtis. I have been looking for a follow up on this. Is there one? Thanks
Love the video! Curious as to what kind of pump was used to spray the field? Having a hard time locating one that I have confidence will work. Iโve been using a 2.6 gal watering can down my rows and can only afford the time to do this once or twice a season.
Is there a new video on the results of this compost tea test?
