Native persimmons in NC are tiny but delicious when ripe. When they fall off the tree, they are ready for eating… if you can get them before the possums!
Wild persimmons grow and are native to MIssouri, which is both a very hot humid climate with rich soil from trees and a very cold climate with snow and ice, not as cold as Montana or something, but it's not warm here. I think they like forest to grow best.
