When my corn or other crops fail to germinate I usually transplant and that’s why I always oversow seed! If the extra plants are not required then I can simply thin them out but if some seed fails to germinate I can always fill the gaps with the extras. Cheers 🙂

Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland Australia about 45kms north of Brisbane – the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started SSM in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. I love sharing my foodie and DIY adventures online so come along with me and let’s get into it! Cheers, Mark 🙂
Hello Mark, when you get to 100K subscribers, you get a check mark next to your channel name! That's good!
Can i buy your t-shirt?
Congratulations from Pacific Haven QLD! 🙂
I love that I found you guys in the Southern hemisphere. I'm finishing up and you guys are getting stated. Helps with planning for the next season. Do you soak your seeds in water before planting? I've found that helps to rejuvenate some of my older seed and improves germination. Especially with the larger hard shell type such as corn and beans.
gday from Adelaide. you inspired me to spend my sunday cleaning up the veggie garden. stupid nasturtiums. have any tips on growing garlic?
Gotta say Mark, I'm glad you ditched the soundtrack at the beginning.
I tend to binge watch and it just isn't pleasant.
Big fan of your work mate
Congratulations Mark, from South Africa. Love watching your videos
Old seed or gmo seed?
Mark, L~.~king forward to 2018! I have some questions about you? What type of work do you do?

Congrats on the 70 K subs! Glad to see that other gardeners are out transplanting during a drizzle! Blessings!
I pre-soak my pop corn seed and grow it as a microgreen and eat just the green after 10 days. But I have had issues with seeds that won't germinate from one source when I tried to save money by buying in bulk.
So now I order one pound at a time.
You might give it a try, you will be amazed with the flavor.
I am a software engineer by profession, but absolutely love your garden and videos. I hope to have a property like yours someday. Also let me know if I can help in anyway( web related ).
