Self Sufficient Me is based on our small 3-acre property/homestead in SE Queensland Australia about 45kms north of Brisbane – the climate is subtropical (similar to Florida). I started SSM in 2011 as a blog website project where I document and write about backyard food growing, self-sufficiency, and urban farming in general. I love sharing my foodie and DIY adventures online so come along with me and let’s get into it! Cheers, Mark 🙂

  1. I understand that many of you aren't that interested in tech reviews but I hope you enjoyed the jog around the neighbourhood at least! Cheers 🙂 P.S I just wanted to add that I really enjoyed creating this video because instead of just focusing on the subject I also wanted to explore a more artistic visual and audio perspective and in the end I was happy with the outcome. Thanks for all your support.

  2. Thank you for such an outstanding review. You provided just the right information in just the right way and did not waste my time, which I always appreciate because time is precious. I live in central Florida, also subtropical as you mention in your notes. How wonderful that you include fitness as an essential component of your overall self-sufficient lifestyle! I believe in that strongly as well, although my belief and my practice have not been as closely aligned as they should. At 61, much overweight and out of shape, I am not up to jogging or running yet, but walking is important to me as the keystone component of my emerging and evolving fitness regime.Yesterday, I received some Lugz boots through Amazon that I had ordered for working in my forest garden and for walking as well. When gardening, I usually prefer the sounds of nature and my neighbors (who are few because I live in the country). When I walk, however, it is often on a new sidewalk along a busy highway, and I enjoy listening to good quality music or to podcasts rather than traffic. Having the right equipment to support that has been a big frustration for me. Based on your review, I just ordered these headphones, the 4-year protection plan, a 32 GB memory card, and a new wide-brimmed ladies' sun hat through your affiliate link. God bless.

  3. Hi Mark. Mate, I gotta say, you're now offering tips on headphones? Are you serious? I know I'm going to cop flack from other SSM subscribers with what I'm about to say – so be it!
I started watching your channel about a year or so ago and I've really been enjoying watching AND LEARNING from you on your experiences with growing various vegetables, fruit trees, owning chooks, ducks etc.
About a month ago, I noticed you starting to "fancy up" your vids with different movie portrayals or caricatures. Sorry mate, but I'm now losing interest. I subscribed because you offered no-nonsense, fantastic gardening advice. I live on a 1/3rd of an acre in a southern suburb of Sydney and I'm slowly, but progressively putting my fruit tree orchard and veggie garden plan together. You provide ideas and inspiration. I'm not interested in fitness programs, electronics reviews or the like from a gardening site. Stick to your knitting mate. It's your channel, so obviously you can choose to present whatever you like.

  4. Great review Mark. I might get some of those cans! Love that you are showing other interests that make up your sustainable lifestyle. Appreciate the effort you put in, its inspirational .

  5. You're the greatest! I'm so out of shape right now. If I was out walking and passed you doing pushups in the center divider, and didn't get out the next day, I'd have to kick myself. Love seeing the landscape of Australia. Mark's coming… "Fore!" PS: Haven't watch the next video in full yet, but I for one really enjoy the versatility of your video's, and now more than ever I appreciate seeing Scooter. Great review!

  6. Great review Mark, my wife and me were looking for a decent on ear sport headphones all around Canberra, but we couldn't find any brand offering similar alternative so we have just order the BTS PRO headphones from the 66 audio website. Thanks again for this review.

  7. My first pair stop working correctly when in two weeks. Turn out my Bluetooth kept disconnecting every few seconds. I Just got my second pair few days ago but the power button sometimes stick the work around is to plug in the C mini power plug to gain back control over the power button.

  8. Bought these. Three months later volume and the cushions broke. Emailed for new ones they only sent me the cushions. It has been 2 months still waiting for the cushions. Worst company ever! Worst after sales. DO NOT BUY THESE

  9. Too Self-sufficient me,
Like You I purchased the original 66 audio sports model,
my first pair brought about 6 years ago lasted me 3 years, may not sound like a lot, but I was riding 200 plus days for at least 2 hours a day. the 3 years before this I would have purchased 100 corded headsets.
when I heard that these where water resistance I had to try them.
Well, all I will say I was shocked that they survived through many a wet ride.
lets just say my next purchase was the same model due to the amazing quality of these.
I also have purchased Christmas presents for 3 family members due to the quality.
I am looking to purchase a new headset and these look like they have been built in the same way as the originals.
Im not sure how these companies products have not been more successful
    Peace and respect bro

  10. Hello Mark, I apologize for the comment on an old video of yours. Just discovered your channel while trying to look up some information on the 66 Audio BTS Pro headphones as I had a few questions that I had yet to find any answers to and you actually impressed me with this as I've never seen or even heard of a review where someone does actual fitness stuff for a fitness related product. I watched the whole video and read through the comments and had 2 questions left that are, as of yet, unanswered and hope you would be able to help me out with that as I'm looking for some good sweat/water-proof headphones for my exercises/walking. I'm moderately to severely hard of hearing due to getting Meningitis (bacterial I believe) when I was barely a toddler and it severely damaged my hearing, so I always have trouble finding headphones that I can actually hear clearly (usually too quiet/faint and I have to really struggle to hear) with although, that is far less of an issue these days as overall quality and technology has improved, it still pops up now and then.

Question 1: You mentioned that your hearing wasn't the greatest due to your military service and wanted to know: How loud do the headphones actually go? If you answered it in the video, I apologize as I missed it. For example, if you maxed out the volume on the headphones, is the noise too loud/painful/uncomfortable or can you max the volume and have 0 issue with still wearing them?

Question 2: How have they held up over time from "wear and tear/use"? Battery still work really well? Do you still use them or, if not, how long did they last you before you had to get a replacement?

    Thank you for your time

p.s. I may come back to check out your videos at some time soon, as I enjoy learning new things, even if it's something I don't do or have a large amount of interest in as I like learning in general and I've always been a bit curious about gardening stuff and really curious about your cooking videos (I tend to do a lot of experimenting in the kitchen and people tell me that I'm really good at it but I'm always curious as to how others do things and see if there isn't something new I could learn or a tip I could share lol).
