  1. Hi everyone! Hope you enjoy the video! Happy Easter to you all and thanks for your support 🙂 P.S If you have any extra sweetcorn growing tips say G'day and place them in the comments section below, cheers 🙂

  2. 1. Start with fresh corn seeds for the best results.

    2. Directly sow seeds approximately 1.5 to 2 inches deep and 4 to 6 inches apart.

    3. Cover with soil, space your rows of seeds 30 to 36

    inches apart.

    4. Water your block of corn well after planting.

    5. Corn stalks are sturdy and should not need staking.

  3. Yeah you are wonderful not watch . My daughter homesteads in north Eastern USA. She tries corn and now with these tips she will do much better. Live watching you in the Am with cup of coffee. Thanks you !!!

  4. I threatened the wife with growing corn all over the front yard. In Queanbeyan, everyone's front yard is a waste of space. Well, I did not go that far, but I have planted a shit load along the boundaries.

  5. If you don't have alot of room for your corn at least keep enough room for a 5 gallon bucket. You push the bucket in the soil wiggling the bucket. Plant in 5-6" spacing around the bucket ring. Corn grows better this way than single rows. You all have room to grow a squash or pumpkin in the center for ground cover to keep weeds at bay. Another great thing to grow with the corn is peas or beans. They help give the corn the extra nitrogen punch they need.

  6. Corn requires cross pollination between plants. The small beds of the home garden just are not suited to that pollination. Even Farmers will tell you that the Corn at the perimeter of their fields don’t produce very well. But like it or not there has to be an end point for every crop.
I buy my sweet corn at farmers markets instead of taking up so much space in my garden with limited results.

  7. More: Corns grows best in large fields where the wind will blow the pollen from the tassels to the silk.
My neighbor gets out with a ladder and cross pollinates his own corn. I prefer to buy my corn at a farmers market and use my garden space for other easier to grow crops.

  8. garden experts here (Texas, USA) have for years advised not to transplant form punnets. I wonder why. Maybe to establish deeper roots? I dunno
