"When evaluating the tree for pruning, focus on the branches you want to keep, and the pruning will reveal itself to you."

Are the trees labeled? How do manage to know all the different types and names?
James you’re channel is VERY informative and fun to to watch and learn as I journey down the green thumb path
Cool dude but what's with all the hands on every second word
Hey James, been watching your videos as they are pretty well done, very knowledgeable. I'm starting my own raised beds this autumn, setting them up to be ready next spring, and i've collected kitchen scraps to add as a bottom layer. Will this attract rats? the kitchen scraps have only vegetables or fruits leftovers, nothing animal in it, other than eggshells.
Tuck is the best.
I like watching your videos
I agree with the other Kevin. Wish I could hire you to trim my apple, peach and pear trees.
Excellent video. The only comment I would mention here is the importance of sterilisation. It's really important to make sure any pruning tools are sterilised. Having your carefully tended tree die of infection is just a tragedy! I like to use steel wool & methylated spirits. It's so simple. Just give your blades a good srub. Be careful not to cut yourself. I like to use those flexible garden gloves with the exposed cloth on the back of the hand. They give great "feel". Oh, wear some clear safety glasses as it easy to have the meth. spirit flick in to your eyes. Remember, always safety 1st! Hospital is not the kind of place you "need" to visit.
Great video man! Have been looking for something like this.
This is a great tutorial. We just bought a home with some apples, pears, and plum trees that all need pruning which we are told was never done. The trees produced lots of fruits but we couldn't eat them because of brown rot. Any advice for a beginner to bring the tree back to health?
Thank you! I plan to prune this January. Take care!
Thanks this is super helpful as it's my first shot at pruning an apple tree. Now I just can't wait for the dormant season to get down to doing it.
Good stuff here. Now I understand the reason and logic behind pruning. Now I can use this kind of philosophy even on my Currant shrubs. Thank you James !!!
thank you!!
I don't agree with the way you cut branches off at the collar. You are cutting too much of the collar and these cuts will not heal right.
Thanks for the video! I have a camphor tree that's very small with barely any leaves compared to other camphors planted at the same time. How should I trim it to encourage growth?
What's the name of the song at the very end?
I have three oversized apple trees and they all look like their dying. They had so many apples on them it was ridiculous. The apples began falling off early and the leaves of the trees also all fell off. My question is can the trees be saved or are they too far gone. I have no prior experience with fruit trees. I live in Ohio and I enjoy the apples just scared to touch them any further and potentially make them worst. Any advise?
Tuck knows how to dig and plant too! Love Tuck!
Do you ever do a garden tool give away? I’d even take your used tools…that sensei pruner looks awesome!
great video, man. thanks
Will someone please tell me what kind of puppy that is at the end,
is that a Yorkie?
We have much bigger trees to cut , it is
little tough

That was a great video! Thanks a lot!
why would you make a flush cut at 3:19 why not stub
Good advice. One more tip – try to cut to the collar rather than flush with the main stem. You'll introduce less disease and stress to the tree.
