We put a lot of time into our gardens, so let’s make sure we get the most out of our greens! Lettuce, spinach, mustard greens, and many other leafy veggies can be harvested many times over using the cut and come again method.
As long as you don’t damage the growing tip or “crown” of the plant, you’re in good shape. Either take scissors and chop off the outer, mature leaves, or come in with a high-quality and SHARP chef’s knife and slice off just above the crown.
This method makes harvesting mustard greens and all sorts of other ‘odd’ greens a breeze as well, so don’t discriminate!

Please show how to trim tomato plants for maximum production
Thank you. This was awsome . . i totaly cut to low…lol
Can you do this for Romaine Lettuce?
Thanks so much. This is my first time growing lettuce in containers. I appreciate getting straight to the point.
Can i cut them in the evenings?
i got sad thinking that lettuce is the same as humans… or women.
thank you!!
Thanks man, gonna try your method.
How do you solve for it when your lettuce plant has gotten much taller than the video? Is the crown higher up when it is tall? Or will it naturally be the same level you've shown here?
Yes very clear and to the point! I'm going to harvest some lettuce leaves right now!
EPIC explanation !!! I’m assuming This goes for romaine and red leaf lettuces too? Thank you!
Thank you for such a helpful succinct video. I learned so much in 4 minutes! My lettuce often goes brown on the bottom. I think it's root rot. Did I plant it too deep?
Thanks A MILLION!
Thank you! Answered my question mines gotten tall I've been under harvesting smh welp tomorrow were having a fresh salad
Thanks so much! New gardener here and was wondering how to get my lettuce without damaging
Could you do this with kale? I want to grow kale for my tortoise and it would be great have a longer harvest.
I do not know what I am doing incorrectly. My romaine lettuce and spinach have grown tall. The romaine grew to about 40" and my spinach to about 20". Please advise
Just what I was lookng for! Thanks!
Thanks great video
you mentioned that you get this all year but plant dies after 4 times can you please show us how you get all year long
It's green amaranth??
I just harvested my Spinach for the 3rd time and the smaller leaves are still growing good. This will be my first romaine harvest though and want to make sure I do it right.
Straight to the point, I’m gonna use this method. Previously I was ripping leaves off by hand and my plant was dying pretty quick but this will save me! Thankyou 🙂
