VIDEO: How to Sprout Mung Beans (Bean Sprouts): Easy and Delicious

Follow along with me as I sprout mung beans in just a few days in a colander (strainer). Very easy to do, and so quick!!! The mung bean (Vigna Radiata) is a plant species in the legume family, and mainly cultivated in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, China, Korea, South Asia and Southeast Asia. It is used as an ingredient in both savory and sweet dishes. As a sprout they are sometimes just called “bean sprouts”. They can be stir fried as in Chinese recipes, usually with garlic, ginger, spring onions, or pieces of salted dried fish to add flavor. Uncooked they can be tossed into a fresh salad or used in a filling for Vietnamese spring rolls, as well as a garnish for phở.
They are very easy to sprout, as you can see in my video. If you have any interesting recipes, please feel free to share them with us in the comments below. Thank you for watching!!!

  1. Tikki, in your opinion, is it possible to grow a sunflower sprouts this way? I saw your movie about them growing in soil, but what about paper towel, will it work? And thank you for your movies. I love them. ❤️

  2. I remember when i used to sprout different seeds with my mother when I was little and mung beans always were my favorite! You really inspired me to give it a try now again years later. Thanks for the video! 🙂

  3. Very cool channel you have here! New sub and going to grow some lettuce (Kratky) and lots of sprouts! You even inspired me to try tomatoes and cucumbers. Thanks a ton!

  4. Awesome video! It’s hard for us to go to the Asian grocery with the quarantine and we eat these sprouts a lot! I’m going to check to see if I can order them!! Thank you!

  5. Have you tried growing mung bean sprouts in soil or coco coir? I've done the mung bean sprouts using the jar method, but I don't like having to cut all the roots one by one and the stems come out all curly. I may try your colander method…but then you are still stuck cutting the roots off one by one?
