  1. It looks like you got wood from a local sawmill to make the raised beds. Those first cuts they take from a log to form a cant are pretty much unwanted material. I’ll be thinking of doing the same thing myself. I know of a local mill that saws trees very traditionally.

  2. I used plastic mulch last year for tomatoes and peppers in my beds. I had huge pepper yields. I live in PA. I left it there for winter to warm the soil early, but voles moved under it! Now it have a new issue!

  3. My local Tractor Supply has cattle panels but they are 4 gauge welded wire. There is no way they would bend to make an arch the way I see you have yours done. And I saw the man in your video carrying them and they just kind of bent on their own. The cattle panels at my tractor supply would not bend at all. I suppose I could get someone to help me forcibly bend them but I don't think that would create the natural arch that yours have. Can you tell me what gauge wire your cattle panels are made of? Perhaps I could call around and find them but as far as I know Tractor Supply is the only place that carries such items around here. Thank you and I absolutely love watching your videos!

  4. ** Is there a reason you use a straight panel and not cut from a roll of cow fencing; structure, easier to work with etc….??? thanks, Laurie

  5. OMG it's you. You are the voice I have been hearing in my house the past two months. You are the other woman in my house. You are the one that has been influencing my wife giving her crazy ideas about using cattle panels building trellis's and insane ideas for improving her garden. I blame you for all the endless honey do list and the thousands of zip ties I've had to use in our garden. She absolutely loves listening to you and spends most of her time in the vegetable and flower garden. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Our garden is flourishing with vegetables and flowers are blooming. There's nothing like being in the garden and smell the crisp aroma of Dunkin Donuts coffee grinds to start the morning off.

  6. I love seeing this early episode. I just moved from California with my 2 little garden beds in the cement backyard to my Pennsylvania home that came with a 2600 sqft garden! This will be my first full garden season as we moved here last July. I've been studying your tips and tricks among others… but I absolutely decided I needed the cattle panels. Today I set foot in my very first Tractor Supply. I didnt know that was an actual store name! I thought you were telling me to go to a store where they sell tractors. LOL

Anyway… I have my cattle panels coming Friday and I wanted to rewatch how to set them up and found this video. OMG!! A little baby Ben!! I have to say… You have evolved your channel SO much. I feel better knowing that with faith and patience I can maybe get to where you are with my garden… and maybe my channel. You only had 65 followers once too, right??

Thank you for being such a teacher and a guide to scared little noobs like me. I went from not knowing what a "Zone" was or even a frost date (Cali girl, remember) to having a garden design spreadsheet and grow lights going in my garage. You say it after every episode… but I hope you know how MUCH you bless people. Thank you.

  7. Do you need to coat the cattle panels with a sealer of some kind so they don’t rust. Is it necessary? Will rust affect your vegetable vines?

  8. Thank you for these cattle panel trellis videos, Jess. I think they'll be perfect for me. Hope I can find them in my area (southern NJ), which is not longer rural ☹️. There are a couple of Tractor Supply Stores further south of me. I'll be checking with them first. I imagine they're a good deal more expensive than they are in your area, but hope springs eternal. Thanks again.

  9. I bought indeterminate tomatoes (by mistake) I have no room to plant them. My raised beds are waist high so they would be out of reach without a ladder. I have a question about how to grow them. I am thinking of putting a trellis about 2 feet horizontal above my strawberries, any advice would be appreciated

  10. Hello from California! I’m so happy to have stumbled upon your channel while I was searching for “tomato gardening” videos a few days ago. Binge watching since then and today my husband and I just finished putting up four 8’ x 50” cattle panel tomato trellises that I’ve first seen in your videos. Thanks for the awesome ideas and I’m learning more about tomato growing through you!

  11. Awesome video as usual. How far apart are your t posts? for the 16 ft panels? Is 3 enough to support 1 cattle panel? We will be installing ours this weekend.
