  1. Hello brother James. So glad I found your channel. What a garden! Today I think I'll get my two children out in the garden. We'll be trying to transplant a large tomato plant (carefully), making a little shade for it (too much sun, not enough production) and repotting a starter watermelon I'd bought from a big box store. Thx for your videoes.

  2. hi, i was wondering why you did not add a beehive to the proprety which can give food while pollinating your fruit trees or at least some mason bees "hotels" to help native populations

  3. Thank you so much James! I am learning so much and am super excited for when I can put the knowledge gained into practice. You are such an inspiration and encouragement! Thanks for your reminders about staying faithful! “He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much…” Luke 16:10a KJV

Used to live in NJ but now in northern CA. If you come across any pointers on how to work with dry clay would love to hear it! Can’t wait to get sowing and growing!!! Also, you might enjoy works by Wendell Berry. Happy Harvesting and keep your eyes upon Jesus!

    Thanks again!!!

  4. Thank you for the work in putting up such inspiring videos. I am starting a food forest now. So far I laid down cardboard and 4 inches of wood chips over my grass lawn, and nothing has been planted yet. The site gets only 6 hours of sun in summer due to shade from surrounding trees. I am wondering how you manage to sow spinach and lettuce seeds into your wood chips mulch. Do you lay down soil over the wood chips for the seeds to germinate?

  5. i wanna ask if you do a lot of maintenance on your garden. and do you ever have problems with pest? i have planted an apple tree and this year 2018 i see little bug type cram up on the apple leaves.

  7. I started planting last year.
    2 grapes- Mars and Vanessa
1 sour cherry (dwarf star I believe)
Only 1 paw paw lived gotta get another
2 apple- golden delicious and Gala
    2 pear- comice and Bartlett
2 peach- red Haven and white peach
Green Gage plum (other plum died plan to get another this spring)
    2 hazelnut
    3 Chinquapin
    2 Saskatoon
Planning on getting a quince, maybe a small mulberry, pawpaw, Stanley plum and a wide range of berry bushes.
I gotta keep everything tightly planted and on the edge of my yard. My husband is worried about the neighbors. So, I can't go full food Forrest. Mostly just plan to plant herbs and some veggies as understory very close together like a cottage garden. Hopefully I can pull off my vision for the yard.
Thank you You've been a great inspection.
PS. My 10 yr old loves to watch you!! 🙂

  8. You’ve inspired me! Now I have 100 strawberries, 2 aronia bushes, 3 raspberries, 4 grapes, 3 blueberries, 2 goji bushes, 2 figs, 2 mini bonsai banana trees, 2 paw paw trees, 2 orange trees, and 2 kiwis! Whew, I ran out of breathe just thinking of that! We have an area in our 1 acre yard that is a jungle type area… I have took full advantage of ALL of my space!

  9. Hi been watching your videos for a while you motivated me to start my own food forest within this year I planted. 5 plum trees, 2 pear trees 4 peach trees 1 nectarine 1 fig tree 3 diffrent types of blackberries 1 raspberry and strawberries

  10. Hey man, you’ve talked about getting triple ground wood chips from the dump in another video. I wanted to mention, I learned that Paul in the Back to Eden documentary actually uses decomposed wood chips. It’s technically compost. I’m curious if you could try adding composted wood chips to an area of the garden to experiment with. The idea is that waiting for the wood chips to decompose is a limiting factor in how quickly you can build your soil up. But I wonder does it actually make a noticeable difference. I imagine that over some years that soil would have higher density of soil organisms like worms because there would be more food available. What do you think about using pre-composed wood chips vs triple ground wood chips, do the triple ground decompose faster than other wood chips because of how they are ground? Thanks

  11. Love your walk thru's and your easy manner…your comments are so useful …you make me think and I've learned much from you. More please about you not watering much… Thank you…I deeply appreciate your videos.

  12. I love Goose Berries. However we have a number of White Pine on our property. Gooseberries are hosts for White Pine blister Rust. So unfortunately Gooseberiies are a no -no for us.
