  1. Great idea! If people really understand what there time is worth, we would see more of this. Whatever loss of productivity takes place (if any), there’s much, much more loss in relation to the value of time spent in traditional gardening.

  2. Looks great. Our neighbors don't call us "cave men" yet but they do call us "hicks" because we never mow or till! To be fair, "Hicks" is a double entendre around here…

  3. I will have to try this. When you say a block of hay, do you mean a whole bale, or a flake of hay? A flake is what I learned to call the part of a bale that kind of separates by itself when we remove the baling twine.

  4. Can you post a video of your area that was mentioned in the Cave Man Gardening compost where there is cardboard and your wife thinks it looks nice? I am looking to do this in a street facing plot of land in a suburb and the neighbors love to report me for weeds. Maybe that system would help?

  5. Only problem is, nowadays all hay has been sprayed with chemicals that kill everything except grasses/hay. Cows eat it, it does not break down, so manure kills gardens too.
