One crop sums up the sheer joy of growing your own more than any other: beans!
Beans are quick-growing and exceptionally prolific, producing tender, tasty pods over many weeks. Grow them from seed for no-fuss plants that will crop repeatedly.
In this short video we share invaluable tips from the pros to help you grow a bountiful crop of beans this summer.

Hello, have you seen Bobuthefarmer?
Azuki
Great video man.. Thanks for helping us to take care of our gardens
BOOOOOBUUUUUUUUUUU-H
Hey, i love your channel. This year i'm gonna have a lot more wigwams as I came up with a no dig way of popping them in a meadow to save space in my raised beds and have them naturally surrounded by wild flowers. The bamboo sticks will be placed inside about 20cm high ring of cardboard, which then will be filled with compost. Haven't seen it anywhere before and i'm quite chuffed;)
Subscribed, looking forward to more videos
I’m glad I watched this before planting my beans! I’ve been soaking them for 24 hours. I’m going to start them in my greenhouse instead of direct sowing. I’m in the Texas high desert. It’s still 30 degrees f at night and 60 during the day in February.
I grow mine in a 3' x 10' raised bed. More than we can eat, so we blanch and freeze the extras. We have found that the green beans freeze better than the yellow; a real treat in the middle of winter. This year, I am trying yellow and green pole beans for the first time, wish me luck!
Peper? That's going cheap
Use nutmeg, you'll love it
I kill nearly everything I touch but green beans and lentils are extremely easy to grow. Anyone can do it.
Soooo my tomato cage is gonna be too small?
It's a fruit
Prefer them dry to green
Thank you.
How deep of a pot do beans need? Can I grow them on my balcony if I add a pole to "grip" to?
Thank you for your very detailed information
Great educational video, thank you for sharing about adding the kitchen scraps and grass a fall before, and about the "outward" trellis!
The beans are growing at a tremendous pace, but they are not flowering and reaching 2 month grow time 🙁
I'll pinch of the tops and see if I need to add potassium (K).
Mmm, I love beans so much
I use a method similar to the tipi. Old beach umbrellas that have lost their canvas make for a great base for beans to climb. You just need to add a string/rope startin from each end of the umbrella to the ground.
I think I'll try the arching tunnel trellis over my greens garden to provide shade in summer
I'm a beginner. But, if you pick them green, are you getting the bean inside the pod? Or are you eating the pod? I want the bean inside. Do I leave the pods to dry?
Dude reminds me of Alton Brown. Straight to the point and not apologetic. He gangsta. Subscribed.
Make a trench and put seeds in 1”-2” apart. Beans don’t need a lot of space and production skyrockets .
