VIDEO: LED Grow Light Placement and Coverage (Mars Hydro Review)

Today we’re looking at mid-tier LED grow lights in detail. This is a section of the market that’s highly competitive as new growers get into hydroponics and indoor gardening.

In this video we’ll talk about the Mars Hydro Reflector-Series 480w LED grow light, with toggle-able switches for vegetative and flowering lighting modes. Is it a good value? Let’s find out.

We’ll also cover grow light placement, the inverse square law of light, and considerations like coverage and lumen output.

  1. So Ive converted my 12×10 back room into a grow room. If I add enough lights even at about 6 and a half ft up, in theory I could grow anything anywhere in the room right? Any help would be appreciated. I've been looking it up but no luck. I mean i'm going to try anyways lol but advice would be great.

  2. The inverse square law applies for non reflective surfaces and concentrated light sources. Both are not given in a highly reflective grow tent.
My own measurements in a 2×2 grow tent show, funnily enough and in opposition to your claims, roughly half the light intensity when doubling the light distance from 12' to 24'.

  3. In my veg tent I’ve been using this bestva 2000 and I was trying to slow them down so I’ve just been using the veg light and I must say these clones are vegging amazingly. I’m actually suprised

  4. I’m confused. He said at 6:55 to keep the lights as close to the canopy but still getting full coverage and not getting heat/light burn
Then he says at 8:25 keep it 20-28 inches away from canopy if your at the seedling stage. So which is it? Get close as possible to the canopy or use the general recommendations u stated?
